Maybe try increasing the value for fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS in skyrim.ini?

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried to set the fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS to 2000 and it seemed like it did some for a while. I hadn't got any freezes for something like 20-30 minutes. I even felt encouraged. Maybe it was just a copium. But then I tried to enter the tavern in Riften and it froze again, right after I entered the tavern. I tried setting the value of  fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS to 4000, the same result. Now it freezes every time i try to enter it. And i don't really think it is the only place i will get the permanent freezes

And it is a good setting to keep in mind. I googled some info about it and they recommend to increase it while using ssd (i'm actually using nvme), so maybe i will leave it at 2000 or maybe even increase it to something like 10000 or more for testing purposes. But for now it doen't seem to solve the problem, unfortunately

Funny thing I noticed. After increasing it to 20000 it doesn't really add 20 seconds to load time. It is far less if anything (all loading screens take no more than 3 seconds at most). Maybe it doesn't function properly...

I suppose it should add some time in milliseconds to the total load time but it doesn't seem to work. Maybe in Skyrim VR there should be some other tweaks. Wil try to investigate

Also what i noticed is that these freezes happen most of the times on the SECOND cell load.

For example,

I load the game, enter Riften. Everything seems kinda OK, then I try to enter the tavern → Hard freeze

I load the game, enter Riften. Everything's OK, I save the game, enter tavern → Hard freeze.

I load the game (savefile after entering Riften). I enter the tavern, everything's OK, I save the game, then I leave the tavern → Hard freeze.

I load the game (savefile in the tavern). I leave the tavern, everything's OK, I save the game, then I enter a jail → Hard freeze.

Honestly I don't really mind to loading screens to take even 30-60 seconds xD. It takes me 1-2 minutes to reload the game in VR in any case

Upd.: even fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS=100000.0 doesnt help. And the load times are as fast as always. Even the initial one was 9 seconds (instead of something like 109 seconds), I'm still wondering why

FTR, mine is set to 36000, but my load times aren't appreciable and definitely don't take all 36 seconds (ie 36000 msec), even if there's some miniscule penalty in overall load time. I*think* it just provides Papyrus with a buffer of sorts, so it can digest everything it needs to deal with during the loading of new spaces (figuratively speaking).

For me, aside from the initial savefile load (just after game boot...and which I've never timed), a cell load takes perhaps 5 seconds or so, and a subsequent savefile load perhaps 10-15 at worst, but normally maybe 5-10.

BUT... if it doesn't solve your issue, then this is all moot.

Seems like I kind of found the issue. I am using NFF. Mostly it happens when I have some followers. Especially when there are more than 2 followers. It seems that when follower gets teleported inside of my character the game freezes, what happens very often when I am changing cells. Sometimes it happens when they got teleported while getting too far away from me. I disbanded all my followers and got a stable gamesession for something like 2 hours without freezing, until I opened the door almost the same time as 2 other NPCs. So I suppose these 2 NPC's got teleported inside my character and game froze. It is very stupid and at the time I don't really sure what causing it. I used to play with something like 5 followers but without such freezes. But I suppose I can try to troubleshoot it.

@Vo1andos I think that there is a setting to protect followers upon teleport, I don't remember which MCM field in NFF has it, maybe that is part of your problem.  There is also a mod that helps prevent NPCs stacking up at doors upon fast travel/entering cities, where their schedules get advanced automatically, I can't spot it in my almost 2000 installed mods, the name and author escapes me.  That mod can help prevent crashes from script updates.  If I find it, I will post it here, and maybe message you.

Hi there,

Old saves have often that porblem : we changes our mod list here and there and this may brings freeze or ctd.

I have some question :
- Did you add/remove some mods during your playthrough ?
- Did you try without mods one by one (or like) in order to see if the issue fades out with some mod off ?
(some mods cannot be set off during playtrhough without corrupt your save, so be careful and do backup save)
- Have you many or few save (manual and auto) of your playthrough ?
- Did you checked your Skyrim files (i do know with steam but not other way).
- Did you check your loot error/advertisements ?

Mine locks up if I let too many saves stack, especially auto saves for some reason.

Tends to happen in certain areas, major one is on Solstheim in the ice caves where the Rieklings are.

As long as I save often, and dump old ones it runs fine, but if I get to engrossed in an area and forget to clean up, it’s the old Control, Alt, Delete, only way I can get out of it.

And FWIW, I’m running my game on an SSD drive.
