363rdChemicalCompany
This is on a new profile with a few mods I have never used beofre. Wanted to mix things up a bit. But have no idea what this could be. At first I thought it was maybe a leftover from Sim settlements optional packet in a save file that I had active for a short time despite hvaign had SS2 disabled. Then new save no SimSettlments and no packs from SimSettle. and I still get notifications of settlements I never been to needing defending. I am not even the MM general yet and only been to Sanct, RR and Concord. So I rollback my recent newer file of workshop framework to an earlier version I used for years No difference after a couple hour sof gameplay finch farm or Somerville or the like are getting attacked and i have a defend quest. I am not the MM general AND I never even been to those settlements. I am at the end of my rope. I recently added quite a few new mods , mostly new TFBs (several) but none of them are loaded into a settlement, except for Sanct, the T-49 Storytellers Armor, Workshop rearranged ( more stuff as a requiremnt for a TFB), healthy animals, loaded bases 2, Vics Commonwleath maps extended project. Nothing that would activate settlements I never been to and that are not in my pipboy workshop list.
fraquar
There are two things to look for: a) Mods directly editing the Defend quests. You can find the EditorID's on the Fallout Wiki, pull up FO4Edit (with all mods activated) and then go to those EditorID's in the Fallout4.ESM. If it's colored - it will show you the mods directly editing them. If it's plain white like everything else - then you know it's b) below. b) Mods changing the actual quest scripts. In MO2 I'd just look for the mods I'd most suspect and right-click on the Main.BA2 for those mods - select the bolded Preview - and it will show me the files - then just search in Scripts folder to see if they have the Minutemen scripts. Don't know if Vortex has a feature like that or not. ----- If Vortex doesn't then what you want is BSArchPro. Just open a File Explorer window, open BSArchPro and drag that Main.BA2 into the box in BSArchPro. It will give you the full run down of every file and it's directory structure. Find the Scripts folder and search there.

Though I must confess it is way beyond my abilities and I disalbed so many mods already started new playthrouhghs did the first from the begining of the game to get started and then had this issue. I downloaded FO4Edit exactly one time and purged it quickly afterwards as I had an issue ( dont rememebr what it was) and I dont know how to use any of those files. I restarted new playthrought and put a couple hours into each maybe 4 times now. I simply may be forced to go back to my previous profile that does not have the mods added from the last week, close it and go from there. Maybe add T49 storytellers armor (which I enjoy) and the really large Sanctuary TFB i just downloaded (and I added to it even more, took MINUTES to export it even on my machine) and that would be it. fraquar
It's not "way beyond your abilities" - unless you can't operate a cell phone. You just need to know what to look for - and there are tools that are designed to let you peep into those windows. The intimidation factor is the largest obstacle to overcome to reach the point where you are in control of your modded game.
fraquar
That alternative? Go back to that previous profile and use the Artillery Bracketing method (i.e. Long - Short - your target is in-between). Ex. Let say you added 5 mods. Add 3 of them an test. If you still have the issue - you know the problem isn't the other two - but the 3 you added. Remove one and test - until you narrow down the culprit. If you don't? Then you know the problem is with the two you left out. If you really want to know - add 1 and test - since there is only 2 left - you will know in short order exactly which one is causing the chaos. fraquar
Last thing. When it comes to modding I always create a blank slate save: In the base game - I create a character and get to the point where I open the Vault 111 door - save - no mods installed. In Fallout London - I create a character and get to the point where I pick up the Atta-Boy - save - no mods installed. ---- With those saves (as long as I don't overwrite them) I can pretty much test anything - and always have a clean test slate. ---- Not sure if 3-4 mods will play nice together? Load 'em up with that test save game file. Run them through their paces. Edited September 19 by fraquar
