Kahenraz
I tracked down a CTD bug with The Great Cities of JK's North - Patch due to the plugins it depends upon, Cities of the North - Dawnstar and Cities of the North - Morthal being updated. Since the plugin I want hasn't been updated in over a year, I think it's safe to assume that this won't be fixed by the original author. How can I use the Creation Kit to fix this CTD myself? I would like to learn how to solve these kinds of problems, in this case and for the future. How do I go about fixing this?
scorrp10
That is a seriouly loaded question. According to changelogs, both city mods have been compacted for ESL, which means a lot of FormIDs are totally different. Incidentally, this makes both mods updated versions completely incompatible with whatever saved games you had in progress. You would need to obtain and install the versions of both city mods the patch was for, load it up in SSEEdit and make a full catalog of what the patch corrected. Then you would need to install the new versions, and literally recreate the patch from zero.
Kahenraz
I had a lot of trouble trying to get either of these COTN mods to load in Creation Kit. They will crash the CK on load with the older 1.5.97 kit. I was only able to get it to load in the latest Steam release. Will patches made using the newer CK version work with the older 1.5.97 version of Skyrim?
scorrp10
They will - but after CK, you would need to open your plugin in SSEEdit and change the header version from 1.71 to 1.
Kahenraz
I will need to learn how to use the CK properly before revisiting this in the future. Thank you for the advice.
