[SE] Custom NPC skipping dialogues

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to remake a follower I made for Skyrim Legendary Edition, but this time without doing the topic mistake.

The companion itself has no audio right now, so I recorded some silence to play when his dialogue runs, and then ran SSEdit to create the blasted SEQ files. The problem, is that only the Hello message (which is silent) is shown. Whenever I navigate the dialogue, it doesn't show a new message, and I'm only able to select 2 topics before the dialogue somehow ends (because the third dialogue is a invisible continue).

Anyone knows why those dialogues are being skipped?

Edit: The dialogue threading actually works, but no message is shown on the subtitles.

Yes, the dialogues have forced subtitles on.

What is the "Topic Mistake"?

On the legendary edition of the mod, I did the mistake of creating a dialogue topic for the greeting, and from that dialogue, the other topics would be selected.

Yep, everytime you spoke with the npc, you would have to say Hello to him before speaking to him.

I hadn't grasped back then how the dialogue branches and topics work.

This is the Legendary Edition attempt I did. I lost the source of it though.

Errors of this sort are about impossible to analyze without having the material.    If you upload your mod someplace, I can take a look.

I think I managed to get all files the mod use to run, including the script.

You problem is you for some reason assigned that '10 sec silence' file into all your responses.

What happens here is it does not play the response - it starts playing the sound file and immediately proceeds through dialogue.  You gotta remove it.

Once the Sound File is removed, the responses run properly, subtitles and all.

Ah snap! When beginning to write the dialogues, I tried to add that sound effect as a replacement for "voice" audio,
because I thought it would work.

I'll remove the sound effect from the dialogues.

Edit: It worked!

Thanks! 😄
