Fresh install and Oldrim still won't Launch

I am trying to get Skyrim LE to launch after not playing it for at least 6 years, but it just won't launch. I have no mods installed and a fresh install of the game. I have not cleaned the master files with xedit. I am completely out of ideas on how to get it to launch. My computer has a 4060 so I cannot imagine the hardware is an issue. I can run much new games just fine, including Skyrim AE heavily modded. I know there was a recent update to Oldrim, did that break things?

What is it doing if you try?  Is it hanging, is it crashing, etc -- and where?

It just does not load. I click play in the Steam dashboard, the Skyrim pop up shows where you can click on options, play, data files etc. I click play there and it closes and the game never starts. Like I said this is on a fresh install to. No idea what is happening. I have never encountered this before.

Recently had to reinstall my whole system, and got the same.  Skyrim just won't start.  No feedback.

Turns out you need to install DirectX.

CK needs to run as administrator the first time you use "dialogue views" or "scenes".

Nifskope needs some VS library, but at least it tells you so.

That was the trick. Thanks. Now I can go reminisce with the oldrim version of the Dragonborn Museum lol. How does the installer for the game not tell you to install Directx? Just another example of Bethesda being anti-consumer and greedy.

I don't remember if I needed to do that on Linux too, or Steam/Proton and Wine already came with it or auto-installed it.
