Doing it via console command was just for testing/comparison. Glad it worked for you, but would be best to get to the bottom of it... I know. It's just that I'm very picky about how I test things. Because the console wasn't working for BV, I didn't find its result trustworthy because, for me, that means there could be other issues I'm not aware of. That's why I wanted to use the method I would actually use while playing because I found those results more trustworthy. I don't know why it started working now, but I've done extensive testing to ensure it wasn't a fluke. I've waited, slept, entered and left areas and buildings, left the game, and re-entered. Heck, I even deleted that save and started on a new one to see if the results could be replicated. Lo and behold, it worked again. I'm not sure if the game just needed a minute to recognize your fix or what.
DirebearCoat
I've been trying to stay away from this topic, but I really have to get my two cents in. It may just be a bias that I have against the undead, vampires especially, but vampires are undead. They tend to be unhealthy, so it makes sense that they have sunken, hollow cheeks, not to mention a whole host of other ailments, diseases, and physical impairments. Really, hollow sunken cheeks cannot be avoided and is to be expected.

scorrp10
Generally by Elder Scrolls lore, appearance of a vampire is tied to their hunger level. People become hostile only once player reaches vampirism stage 4, (which is supposedly when their nature becomes apparent) Quote Consuming blood also allows vampires of some bloodlines to maintain a more inconspicuous appearance, dulling their vampiric qualities. Sybille Stentor in Solitude, Alva in Morthal, Janus Hassildor (Count of Skingrad in Oblivion) to name a few, appear to blend into human society without trouble. Serana is recognized for what she is by Isran, but gets no special attention otherwise.

Perhaps, it doesn't taste all that good, which is why the other vampires won't try it. Yet, maybe this is how these few vampires have been able to make it, living among so much delicious food... It's kind of like vegans making fake meat, so that they don't have to eat real meat. It doesn't taste all that good, doesn't satisfy some of the essential nutritional requirements needed by human physiology, but as miserable as vegans are, they can survive on that stuff. The rest of us, would rather have a nice juicy steak, or some serious fried chicken. It's probably like that for vampires, and that special substitute for human blood potion...
