Pellape
I bet you are sick of this old question. Old Bethesda player, back again, well I wanna try out Mantella really. I love watching BrainFrogs videos and they are hysteric and extremely fun and I need a break from Fallout... I did play 2011-11-11 and also 2020 and then I did use 1.5.97 I also downgraded my F4 and F3, well I even used 2 versions of F4, playing with the old, making mods with the new one. - I also made mods, well not that many years, or is it? Started to make my first one 2004. Time flies... I even play some Daggerfall Unity time to time. Still fun after 28 years. So 1.5.97 or 1.6.x? I could also ask some about Mantella, well I should ask at the Mantella DL site forum, but I start here. What is your own experience? Lets say I wanna try Swedish, even if I am very good in English (I guess at least) so if I choose Swedish, can I still communicate in English if I now like to do that? Some phrases are easier to say in English than my own language but, well, IDK?? Do you use other languages than English? Well if you are born English, I am sure you only know English...   Do you? Edited November 28 by Pellape
melvinius
I'm using Skyrim 1.5.97 and Mantella, using the xVASynth option for voices, and OpenAI for the actual text generation. Yes, you can set up Mantella to run bilingually. There are instructions specifically for this in the config files, with certain language models being able to handle multiple languages and options to translate output into English (if I recall correctly) regardless of your language input. I'm using an English-only model since that's primarily what I speak and the English-only models are more efficient, but Mantella is very configurable. Plan on spending a day or two setting everything up and getting it to work right, though. If you don't like that kind of thing it could be a painful process. Mantella is great. With a decent computer, you can have it running all the time and I like to have a constant conversation going with my current follower. Personally, I don't see a need for having a newer version of Skyrim past 1.5.97. It's super easy to convert Oldrim mods to this version and most of the mods are made for 1.5.97. Getting stuff to play nicely with later versions seems like it causes people some headaches, but maybe that's just my perspective.
melvinius
I'm planning a new Khajiit character who has a nasty personality, I'm going to really have some fun with Mantella and him... gonna get into character with the Khajiit speak. By the way, if you run Dragonborn Speaks Naturally there are ways to set everything up for a voice input, hands free setup so you aren't typing all the time with Mantella and can just initiate conversation with NPCs by talking to them with a greeting phrase.
