First time modding question

Hello.  This is my first attempt at modding Skyrim.  I just have a question that may be nothing but I wanted to get some experts opinions before I go any further.  I have been adding several mods that to my list and I'm nearly complete.  What I noticed is that after several get added (around 60ish) when I open skyrim it will stutter for a few seconds and sometimes blink back to the Windows Screen.  When I remove mods and get back under 60 the stutter goes away.  Is this a hint that I'm at my limit of mods?  Also, It seems like if I use a texture mod the limit is much lower.  Anyways, any insight on this would be appreciated.
