I can't seem to get my Vortex mods to cooperate with the game- is this creation's fault?

Hi all, I'm seriously losing my mind over this. I have around 150 mods installed through vortex (and check to make sure they are all ticked int he load order menu in vortex), but when I launch my game through SFSE the mods don't work and when I exit the game, they're all unchecked in the load order tab.

I recent reinstalled and set everything up and added some content form the creation store in-game, but that's when everything seemed to fall apart. I can tick the mods from vortex in the creation menu and they seem to function, but that only seems to work on a small scale basis- when I tick everything (even without any creation content downloaded or enabled) and try to launch the game crashes to desktop. When I select only a handful and run the game, those mods work but the selection is not saved the next time I launch the game.

At this point I'd be willing to totally ditch creation stuff and just run with the mods from nexus, but none of my ESMs will load in the game.

This is the first time I've installed the game since launch, and now it looks like the plugins.txt enabler is no longer needed, but nothing seems to be working for me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Do not use different mod managers. If you use Vortex, stick with it. You may then no longer use the in-game one.
If for some reason you absolutely want to use a Bethesda creation, download it, go to Vortex and change/fix the loadorder there.

Make sure that all your mods are up-to-date. With 150 mods, I would assume that one or two of them are from the distant past.

As a very interested observer, I too have been having the same issues as @seabreams. This even happens when I try to play Starfield on my Xbox Series X. So you are advising totally lose the Creations and stick with Vortex ? This is a new solution to me. And I have been texting and speaking with techs fm Bethesda.

All they gave me were the same solutions I had been trying myself. I will give this one a try. If anything else comes up I will try to contact @seabreams and @markusm1000 if at all possible. I am not the most computer savy person around so I hope my lack of "tech-speak" will not be an issue. Thanks for reading

this far and for the advise.

Yes it absolutely is Creations' fault for me at least. I have modded this game a dozen plus times with HUNDREDS of mods, including going over the so-called soft mod limit. WAAAAY past it. Like over 100 mods past it. I added a bunch from creations and it destroyed my game. Had to reinstall the game and my mods. Did it like 4 more times before I figured out that despite popular belief and Vortex itself lol, Vortex doesnt really adjust the load order properly with creations mods.

Recently, I switched my mod list to a mostly ONLY star wars mods and ship builder mods list. Im down to 225ish mods now and VERY few creations mods. Youll have to really do some research on the mods (ie read their descriptions and pore (pour?) through the comments sections) that you have VS what you want out of creations mods. It isnt what i would call obvious, but youll be able to eventually tell which creations mods will cause problems. Personally, Ive noticed it is ship builder mods and QOL mods on creations that conflict with ship builder and QOL mods from Nexus. And vehicle mods on creations are notorious for messing with nexus mods.

I use a couple creations mods, but, I can count them on one hand, and they are dependencies for other mods I have.....

Beth did no one any favors when they did away with their forums, and by extension, mod comments...... You can't even put up a decent description. But, not like Beth has a track record of making 'intelligent decisions' for their boards/downloads/etc. I said way back when that three teenagers with a zero dollar budget could have done a better job, and that is still true today..... And this from a major corporation.... I doubt microsoft owning them is going to make any improvements either....
