DirebearCoat
This happened out of the blue, last night (8 Feb 2025). I had just defeated a dragon in Riverwood (It was a desperate fight, because it was in the afternoon with so many people out in the open. I fought hard to be sure no one got killed by the foul beast!). I went to my player home, "Leaf Rest" (a player home mod for Riverwood). I took care of some chores in the house, and then went back out to sell some items, and found the broken walls. I was hoping that logging out, restarting the computer, and logging back in would fix it. However, it did not. Here is an image of one of the sections of wall in Riverwood. All of the walls are like this, in Riverwood. (I haven't been to anywhere else in Skyrim since this problem started, so I don't know if this is happening all over the kingdom.) About a year ago, I installed something called "Better Nord Stone Carnes," and another one, "Better Nord Stones," or something like those names, but the mods were not working in The Pale and other snowing locations. So, I uninstalled those mods a month later (nearly a year ago). So, I don't know what other mods I might have that affects stone walls. It's a dark picture... I should have taken that pic in the day time.... How do I fix this?
7531Leonidas
Try taking a look at those wall sections in More Informative Console? Don't forget to use the 'Shift' key to expand information.
DirebearCoat
O.K. After installing More Informative Console, here's what I found. Normal Wall: StonewallEndR01IvyAUT Base Form: 2F0009CA Ref Form: 000132B4 Base Type: STAT (Static) Base defined in/by: Seasonal Landscapes.esp Ref defined in / Ref last changed by Skyrim.esm Broken Wall: StonewallEndL01IvyAUT (L01 instead of R01) Base Form: 2F0009C9 (9C9 instead of 9CA) Ref Form: 000132B5 (B5 instead of B4) Base Type: STAT (Static) Base defined in/by: Seasonal Landscapes.esp Ref defined in / Ref last changed by: Skyrim.esm I also found this problem in Falkwreath, but not in some other places. I didn't check every single place, thought. Edited February 10 by DirebearCoat
DirebearCoat
So, now that I have the above information, how do I use this information to fix the problem? I already tried the brute force approach. I disabled Seasonal Landscapes, and the broken wall parts were gone. I restarted Vortex, and restarted Skyrim, but the broken wall problem was back again. Again, I don't understand why it suddenly broke, because I've had it installed for a long time, and I didn't add any new mods (except for "More Informative Console" just yesterday). So, I don't get why it broke.
scorrp10
That purple color means it is missing a texture. In the more informative conssole, you need to click on the broken wall. There should be an info window on top left. In there, you mouse over a category and press Shift. Specifically, you want Model and Textures. Examine which model (.nif) file it is, and which textures it is using. You should be able to get full path for each.
DirebearCoat
O.K., here's what I found. Name: StonewallEndL01IvyAUK Form: Location Information: [6]: Model: StonewallEndL01IvyAUT.Nif [1] Textures: [4] Position: [6] Is enabled: Yes I found out that I could mouse over the above items and click on them to open another box with more info. You mentioned "textures," so here is what I found from clicking "Textures." scorrp10
You need to go further down into the Model - to get a full path of that .nif - and into each of the textures, for their paths. P.S. If I were to give a hypothesis, the 'AUT' in that model and textures stands for 'AUTUMN', and its placement is the result of Seasonal Landscapes scripts. You may have disabled the mod(likely bad idea), but its scripts are still functional in your save. Most likely summer models/textures were OK, and the problem started when season shifted. DirebearCoat
Brute Force idea. If I completely uninstall Seasonal Landscapes, and after restarting Vortex, reinstall Seasonal Landscapes, might that fix it?
scorrp10
It might. Did you check what are the paths for the model and the textures? It might be a good idea to verify that the mod in fact has those. Also, on the mod page, it says: No need to rerun xLODGen / TexGen / DynDOLOD if you update from V1.17.
DirebearCoat
1) Checking paths for models and textures: In the first three images, you'll see the folder paths for each set of icons. The nearest thing I could find was what's in the first image. Two generic icons. The second image is one level up (before clicking on the "Stonewall" folder. The third image is of the contents of the "Seasonal Landscapes" folder. The fourth image is what was inside one of the other folders. Should it look like that? Should they all be little pics of leaves and branches, or should there also by those generic icons? Also, I could not find anything there that was IvyAUT, or Stonewall related... 2) I couldn't find any paths for xLODGen/TexGen/DynDOLOD. I looked in the "Seasonal Landscapes" and in the three "DynDOLOD" folders.
