How about a mod to start your own faction?

I usually play the Minutemen, but getting Called "General" makes me feel like sucha goodie two shoes.

I want to be a bit more edgy.

Not evil-raider-boss-murdering-psychopath-edgy, but maybe  a bit more feudal Lord type who is mostly benevolent, but likes his Gold and his farmgirls.

And my faction could be its own Nation, kinda that the SS builds up in a benevloent way like the minutemen do. But as  feudal lord it wont feel so odd if I decide to exact tribute via taking all the bottle caps from the workshop, or have some of my pretty farm girls give me some physical "tribute".

In a feudal society those things are 100% normal and many noblemen that history records as good guys and great men, did exactly that

But as "General" I feel a bit too much locked into a goodie two shoes role, especially with Preston nagging me.

Also this would allow a user, to use the mod that locks out the minuteman questline and still do the settlement aspect in a plausible way.

Just an idea I hope someone more gifted than me might consider... 🙂

You have a faction. Player Faction. All NPCs belonging to the settlement and all partners have this faction. Factions hostile to the Player's factions are automatically attacked by settlements belonging to the Player's faction. If you join a story faction, you have 2 factions... the Story faction and the Player faction. If you attack a friendly story faction, your settlements automatically become hostile to that faction, they again belong exclusively to the Player faction. Integrating a new faction into the plot means creating a new plot, with new quests, and a new ending. This is dls.Dls with a feudal master, surrounded by rosy-cheeked girls and kneeling farmhands... This is something you need to look for on Lovers Lab.😁

Hmmm, Player faction. Good point.

But why then do my settlers sometimes call me "General" even if I have not yet joined the MM?

I don't know. While I was playing through the story, I never once connected with Preston and the Minutemen. Only the Institute and once the Brotherhood. This had no effect on the settlers. I haven't actually tried making settlers in a very long time. When I need actors, I simply build a pre-prepared npc in the workshop. Accordingly, they do not address me in any way, but simply perform their role as an actor in the scene. Therefore, I may not know the specifics of playing for the Minutemen.🤷Technically, you can use some ready-made settler creation mod. Synth Fabricator, or Cloning Device. Set up in advance the AI packages you need, voice, dialogue, all characteristics, attitude towards the player, and even animations. And your settlers will become your faithful dogs. 😁

I dont have that level of skill.

My male settlers I simply create via cheat menu, which is basically an automated console command (and I run "Better Settlers" which hooks into console command spawned settlers, to buff thier levels) . They are not unqiue coded so I cannot change their looks, but I dont care since they're dudes.

My female settlers I get from "Commonwealth Captives" (not unique coded for looks, but most girls "found" like this are attractive), or Settler builder (which makes unique coded setttlers I can use presets to make them hotties) or "spawnable unique settlers" ,( also to apply hottie presets)

I also equip the women/girls with various Vtaw and lazman555 outfits. I no longer go crazy and make them all run around half naked in lingerie anymore. That doesnt make sense when they are doing farm work and/or its chilly.etc. But more normal clothes albeit hot ones.

The hottest girl in the settlement gets the Clothing Shop. (For those who dont know, in most countries wealthy men, which the Sole Survivor quickly becomes,  often buy their favorite girl, a Boutique to own, which, of course,  is a dream business for most women)

I also use the "Special Zapper" to fine tune settler specials based on who they are (my female settlers get a huge buff , 5 points or more, in charisma/charm if they are hotties, my male settlers get 2 point buff each in strenght, agility, endurance).

Doctors get a big buff in Intelligence and a smaller one in perception, traders get same buffs except smaller, but also a charisma buff, specific "anchor" guards with my best equipment (power armor and heavy weapons) get buffed to Courser level for Specials.

I envy you. You can still play fo4. I haven't played for a long time. Once upon a time, when I was still playing, I also made large settlements and experimented, and enjoyed the game. But at some point I got to 3ds and started making models and animations, and lost interest in the game itself.

As for modding, I don’t think there is anything very difficult for you. Just read articles about working in ck, including articles about ck Skyrim. The principle is the same. Upload esm and study the race and character windows. You can experiment absolutely safely. Since all your experiments are saved in a separate esp file, you can connect your esp without the threat of ruining the game.

TBH, I never connected with anyone - except Mama Murphy.

When she told me the line about when I meet the woman and the Fat Man - I realized real quick she was the ONLY one that was telling you things straight - even if they were curved and angled when she uttered the words.   Her previous "sightings" - meh.   Didn't pay them much mind.

-----

Everyone else is selling you a line a 5h1t.  She's the only one telling you things straight - well as straight as a strung out old lady can tell you things.    The rest is on you kid....
