New UI - Aesthetic feedback

Even though the moderators are seemingly morally against listening to feedback, I will post a few genuine criticisms and invite other to do the same.

  1.   The most ugly part of this update for me at least is the complete lack of color and soul to literally any page. Every mod page now has the most sterile, bland color palette I've seen in a long time. Bring back the orange at least, and preferably all the other colors the old site had. I saw in a comment by some member of staff that the new colors were to try and meet some weird guidelines for accessibility called the WCAG, or something to do with the rulebook that site(?) has for contrast and readability. The problem with this is that those guidelines are incredibly harsh and narrow and basically force anyone who wants to abide by them to use only the most bland and ugly colors and fonts for everything on a website, which is presumably why the only colors on the site now are boring shades of gray. I have no idea why the mods are obsessed with these weird guidelines when basically no one had problems with the readability of the old site. Even if like one or two people had trouble reading the old site, why would you ruin the look and feel of the entire site for everyone else just to appease a tiny minority of a minority of users?

  2.  The amount of wasted space is ridiculous, the whole site looks like someone mashed the zoom in buttons too many times on accident, the now closed forum topic about the ui rollout had more comprehensive reasons for why this looks bad and how to make it better, look there. Because of this the site now looks like every generic modern website that was put together with Willow. com

 3.  By far the worst part about this update though has been the moderator and admin response. The corpo-speak that has pervaded every response they have given didn't inspire much hope, but the complete inability to consider that these changes are not popular or beloved by the majority or that anyone that disagrees with them is not just an angry troll is frankly childish and wildly unprofessional. If the moderators would like the respect and trust of the people that make this site worth visiting (the mod makers and users that been on this site for years), they need to conduct themselves in a way that earns that respect and trust, and they have completely failed in that. Just look at the previously mentioned topic about the Ui rollout feedback, that topic was locked because one single community manager completely ignored all the genuine constructive criticism and real feedback that was given about the new look and used the excuse of people not being polite enough to him about their complaints and not putting their responses in a numbered list in order to completely lock the topic to try and shut down any disagreement with the new changes to the site. The complete refusal to admit any mistakes and revert any bad changes whatsoever has really ruined any chance of most people giving any good faith or trust to the mods and admins, and for good reasons.

Probably been mentioned already but I have no desire to read every single page, but it's worth saying again...

When browsing mods in the last 24 hours, if I get to the end of page 1 and click 'show more', it shouldn't go back to page 1 and show me all the mods I've already looked at, it should actually show 'more' mods.

I know this is probably a long shot, but I would love a sorting option in the search (Or even when just browsing mod lists) for mods you've previously downloaded for that game. There are several times when I'll come back to a game a year later and cannot find a specific mod I used to have because I couldn't remember the name of it, or when there are unofficial updates to certain mods and you're not sure which one you had last time.

As far as other feedback, it's really just the new search that I don't like. Seeing mods for other games when I'm searching, or irrelevant content when I'm looking for a mod is less helpful, not an improvement.

Hey @TwistedSisler, you can set your default search preference to mods by clicking here image.png.9af0bddf6b4dbe9c2f95a837757397ba.png

The new search is extremely overwhelming and disorienting. The rest of the changes to the site can be made almost tolerable through Stylish or other extensions (though should not HAVE to be dealt with in such a way), but there is no way for a user for whom the new search is overwhelming, overstimulating, distressing, and disorienting to fix this significant accessibility problem.

If it can't be brought back as the only search, because the unnecessary update is extremely important to you guys (or maybe there's a "real" reason to keep something that makes users click more things and have a big box pop up in their face even when it's OVERWHELMING and OVERSTIMULATING), then at least bring the dropdown back as an ACCESSIBILITY OPTION for users for whom it is a necessity.

It seems like they updated the UI just to make it "trendy" without taking user experience into consideration. What's up with the mobile design? No one is downloading mods from their phones. There was no need for such a drastic change in the first place. The old UI was great, now the site feels inconsistent and soulless.

The mod page is what bothers me the most, everything is too small and squeezed. It's hard to see or read anything there. I want to see the mod content displayed properly, not some tiny icons with cut-off titles. I used to spend hours looking for mods, but now I don't think I can browse nexus for more than a few minutes without straining my eyes.

Please revert to the old UI. The old text was easier to read and the new layout of the mod lists wastes a tremendous amount of space, especially vertically. We also don't need a list of trending mods with enormous tiles at the top before the full list - sorting will get to them anyway.

In spite of the wasted space, the site also manages to feel cluttered because the nice sidebars with the Skyrim backdrop are gone.

So ACCESSIBILITY feedback gets put in the AESTHETIC thread... Very appropriate...

After going through multiple threads, it seems just a small minority (less than 2% of registered users) are being loud and repeating the same issue(s) so I will not pursue trying to encourage the Nexus staff back to the old UI.

I have it all half-fixed, only on NM maybe twice a month, does not bother me. Heck for all we know 40 million users use Stylus before the UI downgrade update.

So kudos.
