New UI - Aesthetic feedback

Yeah the new design is ugly and practically unusable on desktop which is still majority of your user base even by your own admissions.   I still don't understand forcing a mobile "friendly" version onto us when we are still the majority at 60% of the user base if your 40% for mobile wasn't a lie which I honestly believe it was.  Something tells me they didn't save a backup of the old layout site before they pushed this hot garbage live else we would have already seen them possibly letting us have a toggle.

I hardly comment on anything but the UI is tragic. After deciding to mod a game after a good few months, I am just considering not even playing the game because the website looks and feels absolutely disgusting to use. Please give an option to revert back otherwise i will just simply not be using this anymore. Also Why in the hell would you guys remove he drop down for a search. All this work for it to do nothing but hinder everyones usage. It feels like i should be using my phone but people arent modding phone games so why are we going to cater to that style. Please change this back its sooo bad.

It's so frustrating. Before, all I had to do was to load the page and I saw both what is trending (top 6) and newest mods (or most popular, or updated) on my screen at the same time.
Now I have to scroll for a while to actually see any new mods. It whole feels like it was made by somebody who only works with tablet and not PC. Bigger doesn't always mean it's easier to read. It makes me feel very anxious.
I'm also not very fond of the colors change. Gray with "white"  text is OK for forums, but it just looks very unpleasant and depressing for the mods page.

Having read the announcement, it's pretty clear you're not really interested in feedback, so I won't be commenting further. You're just pressing on and trying to justify why you've done it, not really addressing the many issues your users (paying customers) have raised.

In the update, this is written:

For more experienced site users, many of you have told us that this reduction in visible content feels like a significant loss. The grid and list view is something many of you preferred, offering more content visibility on the page. Our data showed that only a small percentage of users changed from the default layout, but we recognise that different browsing preferences are important. We’re exploring additional tile options, including a list view and a more compact view for those who prefer a more compact layout.

I've looked everywhere for a way to change the default layout right now and is there even any? And if that data comes from before the changes, of course nobody switched: it looked just fine. If it's coming from after the changes, then I still have no idea where this setting can be found, which might explain the data saying almost nobody switched; nobody can find the option to do it! 🤣

It would be really nice if we could build a site colour theme just like Vortex has. As soon as Vortex' colours changed with an update a little while back I changed the colours to match the originals which was awesome. It would be great if a similar feature could be implemented into the site, either through user profiles or cookies. I'd imagine the frontend work wouldn't be hard to implement at all.

Also the coloured accents and favicons are probably the last main feature I'd really like to have back. Per-game art on the site background would probably help, but still wouldn't be nearly as effective as colour association with accents and hyperlinks like we had with the old site UI.

It would be really nice if the website used 100% width or close to it. This is mainly a complaint being on ultrawide, but even on a standard width monitor so much space is wasted. Testing with dev tools its a fairly simple change and the breakpoints all still work, so mobile and smaller screens like laptops would still look fine. This would also solve the complaints of wasted space.

There is far less scrolling this way, the content that is important is more condensed and there isnt these huge empty margins on either side of the page. Why this is a staple in modern design is still beyond me, even working as a web dev. Some margin is fine, but when only 50% of my screen is used it makes no sense.

Going to put this post I made in the general feedback thread because it seems like nexus still persists on using only dark on dark colors unfortunately after reading the announcement post.
This was in response to a screenshot shared by a dev showing "improved" colors which pretty much looked the same dark as before.

I have to honestly say I barely see any difference and so no real improvement over the current colors. I've seen the proposal of having having a toggle for a dark/light mode. I feel like this would fix a lot of issues for many people as it would be an easy fix/improvement for such a controversial change.
Dark mode being as its now and light mode being the more brighter grey colors as it was before. As seen from this screenshot below the older colors were very easy on the eyes.
The proposed adjustments made here seems like it would still cause eyestrain after a while.

Q:So what about the the background colors as they were pictures before.?
A: Maybe have them just be a solid grey color too or even go back to having a part of a background picture, though I guess this part will never happen/return.

I really hope having a more brighter color layout option will be considered, as I really do not understand why the nexus team is so reluctant to keep these incredible dark colors for everyone.

The new Search should default to Mods. I really dont want to click Mods every time I search. I bet 99% of people that search are searching for Mods. And if you dont click Mods you have to click Mods in the results because it only shows 5 Mods and then useless Images...
