What kinds of mods can be flagged as light on Vortex? What should not be?

Changing from esp to esl mid-save can break scripts, because the formIDs used to track them change, and scripts get "lost" running in the background or references break.

Very good point, for some reason I totally forgot about scripts.

Not sure I agree about the need of compacting them if they already fit in the ESL address space, because even if you keep adding and deleting forms until you reach FFF for the next form ID, you can simply set the "next form ID" in the header to 1 again, and at least xEdit use the next unused form ID for the next form you create.

The creation kit is a lot more messy about assigning formIDs (how unexpected). In the context of someone asking "what mods can I convert to esl on vortex" I'd still say always compact because manually checking things out in xedit is more advanced than that, but maybe I was too dogmatic about compacting.

You don't need to compact - until you do.

There are two conditions for ESL flagging.   Both have to align perfectly.

If one doesn't - then you need to compact.

If the other doesn't - it doesn't matter anyway unless you take a Swiss Army Knife to that mod first (i.e. too many records).

I just think in the rush to make more mods fit that some people lose sight of the bigger picture.

Then later they lose their mind when things start crashing and they don't know why.
