Code Snippet button in Profiles doesn't allow html code embeds

Unable to embed html using the code snippet button on my profile.
I used to be able to do this on my old profiles with the old site software.

The reason is I'd like to add verification html code to my NexusMods profile in order to verify it's my profile on my Mastodon profile (a green check mark would be added to my listed Nexus profile URL in my Mastodon profile to confirm it's my profile).

The verification link format is:

<a rel="me" href="https://mastodon-instance.domain/@user">Mastodon</a>

Is there a way to add the above to our profiles (replacing the URL domain and "user" for our Mastodon usernames) without having the html code snippet rewritten in the rendered html source code of site?

When I try to add the verification code string to my profile, the string format isn't preserved, parts are rewritten.
Is there any way around this?

Thanks in advance.

Profiles do not support html. Doing so is an incredibly bad practice for many reasons.

You can get the same effect using a simple markdown link with the existing options.

It won't have the "rel" tag. If that's important I'm afraid you just can't do what you're asking.
