j4ckstraw
I started getting this when there was an issue where the stupid in-game MM for BG3 decided to install all the mods from my console version of the game into my PC Steam version. After having to remove all the mods in both places, as they stomped all over each other, I started getting the above message on startup when opening Vortex. Googling around, I came across similar issues but nothing close enough to help me fix the issue. I uninstalled Vortex, removed the directories in appdata in local and roaming, the updater in programdata, verified the folder in program files was gone. I deleted anything in the mods folder for BG3, both in appdata and in the game directory. When I try to run Vortex now, it still shows the BG3 startup message, but now also one for No Man's Sky, a game I've never owned. The details of the error for both are connection timeouts on 443, as well as a bunch of js file issues. I want to be clear on my timeline. Startup Vortex. No issues. Start BG3 from Steam, no issues. Game hits landing page and the mod.io in-game MM starts downloading mods left and right. I delete mods out of both the in-game MM and Vortex to try to clean up. I restart Vortex, and I start getting the error, and my troubleshooting began. If I could get some help on this, I'd greatly appreciate it. It's been frustrating to say the least. Thank you, Tommy
HarlotMonroe
I am having the same issue, I'm hoping we get a response here :P. Have you had any luck?
HarlotMonroe
Oddly enough, my VPN was preventing this install for some reason.
DankRafft
Yeah, my VPN caused that as well.
j4ckstraw
I'm not running a VPN on this PC, so I don't think that's my issue.
ChemBoy1
This error has absolutely nothing to do with mods for a specific game. It is a network error indicating that the Vortex application cannot connect to github.com to update the bundled extensions included with Vortex. Usually, this is caused by a VPN, a firewall, your ISP, or an antivirus software.
MaisieHyde
After BG3’s in-game mod manager synced console mods to your Steam version, Vortex started throwing errors—even after uninstalling, clearing AppData, and removing BG3 mods. Now, Vortex also flags No Man’s Sky, which you’ve never installed. Errors cite connection timeouts and JavaScript issues. Everything worked fine until mod sync triggered this mess.
