Random00Internet00Person Posted June 6 Posted June 6 so i got the idea to add a raider close to sanctuary red rocket area that once killed would drop a good bit of starting loot like a full set of heavy leather armor and a good melee weapon kind like what Bethesda does with the dead raider at the end of the bridge i just wanted to to make it a small challenge then just here is some loot the raider would be just as difficult as the raiders in concord is this possible and how would i do it is there a video i could watch or can someone break down the process or is this too much to attempt for a first mod 1
NeinGaming Posted June 6 Posted June 6 The mod itself is very doable and a great first thing to try actually, since you could essentially just copy an existing raider and change their inventory, and place them there. First thing would be to get started with Creation Kit and/or FO4edit, and then making new records and looking at existing ones. 1
SKKmods Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Check youtube for Bethesda Mod School content which is highly regarded. What you are looking for is something like "how to place actors and objects in the word". 1
hereami Posted June 7 Posted June 7 (edited) Probably try to start here https://ck.uesp.net/wiki/Category:Tutorials and https://falloutck.uesp.net/wiki/Main_Page , cannot ignore that resource either way. XEdit you likely have to comprehend by self, but it's not hard and it's more informative in what regards mods. Would advise to focus on Quest spawn rather than placing in world directly. Want a basic commented mod to start with? Edited June 7 by hereami 2
Itchytreasuresack Posted July 11 Posted July 11 This might not be a helpful comment, but when i first made a mod for morrowind when i was a child, i just clicked every button lol, and eventually found a way to place things in the world. nothing like opening up the creation kit and start clicking buttons lol. 1
Itchytreasuresack Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Hello again I have played around some more with the creation kit, i will teach you to the best of my ability. Starting: open the creationkit, click file on top left corner of the creation kit screen, use the dropdown menu to select the option "data", click fallout 4 as the master file(make sure it is ticked on). now click ok, wait forever, when it is open you will see a bunch of windows, in the object window click the filter box to filter out tings, type raider, it now shows all objects with the name raider on it, on top where it says "editor id", "form id" etc, click "Form Type" this will list the results filtered by form type, look for npc form type. all the objects listed as raider with the form type called npc should be actual actors to place in the world but some might not be, such as the ones starting with ench, or that have corpse in their name, i recommend you just take the one i used for testing this to explain to you how it is done named "dn083_LvlRaider", just type that in the filter lol. Making an isolated instance of this npc: (so you don't change any others in the game) look for a raider you want to duplicate. right click the raider you want to duplicate, use the dropdown list and select duplicate, on the new raider that was duplicated double click it to open his window, on top left corner of this window, change his name to something simple that you can remember, click ok. now delete the duplicate you have made to not have trash in your mod(it won't be deleted from the list right away, don't worry it is deleted). go to the filter box type in the name you have given to this new npc you have created. find him, click him to open a new panel that has all you can edit for him. Editing the character: and now edit whatever you want, as in, you can't edit anything isn't it? lets fix that, with his file open click the tab saying templates, on the bottom you see a list, it says "use traits" on the right and it is ticked on right? untick the inventory because you want to edit it(same can be applied to anything else you don't want predefined/default). Now click the tab saying inventory, you will see it is now unlocked you can edit it, where it says inventory there is a list with a bunch of green stuff on it, i suggest you don't delete anything, just right click inside this box and use the dropdown menu to select "new". a new instance of an item has been created. click this new item once, not twice, if you click twice you will be taken to a panel for editing this weapon, you don't want to do this as it will change this weapon forever, but that is not what you want, so click once, now click the little box right under this box with the items where it says the name of the item/weapon you have selected, click the box, it opens a big dropdown menu with all items in the game, select what you want the npc to have in his inventory, on the right of this panel you have the item count for the item, do this as much as you need to fill up his inventory. Do note that if you give him powerful weapons, he will be very powerful, so be careful, as far as i know the ai in all Bethesda games just uses anything in the inventory that is the best that he/she has. Placing him/her in the world: Time to place the npc in the world, click ok on the panels you had open, now look for the window of the creation kit saying "cell view" click it to make it active, now on top left corner of this window you see that it says "interiors"? click that box, select "commonwealth", wait forever, now it presents you with a gigantic list of all regions in the game that are in the "commonwealth" which is the fallout 4 world basically... Now this is very confusing, so i will just tell you what you want, click the "editor id" button on top of this list to filter the regions by editor id. it should start with the region abany farm or something, listed from a to z. scroll down to the regions starting with the R letter, and find the region called "RedRocketext02", double click it. Wait forever, now find the window that renders the 3d, the area you have selected should now be rendered(BE VERY CAREFULL NOT TO CLICK ANYTHING AT ALL) use the middle mouse button? the one with the wheel to scroll? and scroll back to zoom out, click the middle mouse button and drag until you start recognising the area, you should see the little bridge leading to red rocket, and red rocket. once you have found the area you want to place the npc at, put the windows side by side, the 3d view window, and the object window with your raider. click the raider you have created on the object window, and now drag and drop him exactly where you want him to be in the world in this 3d view window. he will be placed in the world, no 3d model shows, it shows instead a big M with an arrow crossed over it. That's your npc. You have successfully completed creating your first npc in the world full of neato loots, and probably very hard to kill. Testing your mod: Click the button saying file on top left corner of the creation kit window, and open it, click save, and now name it something you want, it should be placed in the folder named "Data" on your fallout 4 base folder, when saving though the creation kit normally points you to the exact right place already, so all you need to do is just type in a new name for the mod and save. After saving this esp, it is ready for testing, i recommend you download the program mod organiser, just use a search engine and go get it, it does not ruin your mod order or anything at all for your game, it is a very special program because you can activate and deactivate mods at will and run it in an isolated instance of the game, never really ruining your mod order for the game you are currently playing that was modded with vortex or something else. I am suggesting this so you don't ruin anything in your game by using vortex, or manually installing it, but you can do that too if you prefer, it is up to you, it is just that i use this one for not touching my game at all, i am always afraid of ruining my game, i don't want to have to keep 60gb copies of my mods... Select mod organiser to manage fallout 4. In mod organiser, you will see a big list of all your mods, scroll down to find the esp you named and created just now that is your mod, tick it on, click run to run fallout 4. Now in game, don't open any saves, on the main menu open the console and type in "coc redrocketext02" which is the name of the cell you edited, so you are teleported to it, you will appear there with a newly made character specifically made for testing stuff, go see if the raider is there and perfect. You can also load your saved game and go see if he is there and kill him, but you might ruin your game if you go and test mods on it and than save, than change the name of the esp or remove it etc... so i recommend using the test character instead, you can always go "player.setlevel 99" and boom your super strong. or use the command "tgm" to turn on god mode. I suggest you get a mod i made to make it easier to test mods lol. i know it's bad that i am recommending my own mod here, but if you get it you could just type "bat exit" in the console to go to that cell you want, it is much easier to remember the code than, here is the mod: Cheating room with all items in the game I hope this helps you make the mod you want, other things you can ask here or in private message, or you can just play around with it and see what you can do. Posting the mod: Once you have completed your mod all you have to do now is compress it with your favourite program, and go post it in the nexus Final notes: If i am sounding condescending by explaining this in an exaggerated amount of detail, i am not trying to be, i don't know what you know or don't know, so just to be sure i am being very thorough with my explanation, in hopes of you understanding it fully, i mean more information can't harm, if you know it great, if you don't, than it is there just in case you didn't know. Cheers! 1
