WhoCaresomg74 Posted June 19 Posted June 19 I'm just testing a mod for a team working on a relatively big quest mod, and I was specifically asked to test somethings since I said I had an older version of AE, specifically 1.6.3 or something. When I logged into steam today, and went to test certain features I noticed SKSE was out of date, and poof steam updated Skyrim on me even after I had automatic updates turned off. This is actually really annoying because now I look like a troll/idiot because I can't test to see if some features of the mod were broken for older version of skse or skyrim or whatever the specifics are. So is there anyway to roll back updates on steam? I haven't launched the game since it auto-updated. Or do I just tell them what happened and I can't help test some features of the mod on an older version.
WhoCaresomg74 Posted June 19 Author Posted June 19 I know for Fallout London, I actually managed to roll back the updates to a non-broken bethesda patch that London was released for. I don't remember what I did but this should be possible right? Steam has some sort of archive for these updates no?
IsharaMeradin Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Steam does not have a native way to downgrade game versions. SteamDB does have a database of Steam's content including previous patches. There are a few "mods" that are set up to 'downgrade' to specific versions and they are all based on the method used by the DepotDownloader. However, the 'mods' may not downgrade to the specific version that you were using. Thus, you may need to utilize the DepotDownloader directly. Good luck! The alternative is to tell the people you were testing for that your game was unintentionally updated and that you can now no longer provide the assistance you wished to give. After all, it is really easy to accidentally trigger an update. All it takes is forgetting to launch SKSE and boom, the game updates because it was launched via Steam. 1
