So I've been seeing a lot of mods uploaded where the preview images shown are with all of the OBR visuals set to as low as they possibly can be, so that the game looks WORSE than vanilla Oldblivion.

Why not just mod the crap out of Oldblivion? It will look just as good if not better in some areas than vanilla OBR, AND run better, and clearly you already know your way around modding a game if you're posting your own.

If the remaster drastically changed gameplay or the story or some other major aspect, I could understand, cuz FOMO and all that. But it's literally just the exact same game with a few very very minor tweaks and some very very minor new DLC 'quests'

Why waste the money? It can't be enjoyable for you to play as if you're suffering from extreme hay fever and need some Claritin STAT, and I can't imagine your fps being all that great even with the settings turned down if your PC is *that* much of a potato. You're not getting paid to make mods, so it's not like you need to buy the game to keep your source of income.

I'm not trying to shame anyone just my autistic ass brain literally cannot comprehend the logic.

Perhaps it's just the preview images that are crap so some reason. I'm able to run the game with ultra settings and I built my PC in 2015. I did have to finally replace the video card. My PC is an exact match for the recommended game requirements, as it turns out.

I think other people are new to Oblivion.

Yea the thought had occurred it might JUST be the previews and they actually play the game on higher, but then I actually thought about it and I can find absolutely no cause for needing to do that.

Preview images are gonna want to be high detailed so users can actually see what it should look like. And if you CAN run the game on higher....why WOULDN'T you, yknow?

And it's also the fact that there's a growing number of people posting pics like this, and in my experience on nexus it SEEMS to be largely confined to just OBR? I don't/didn't see it in FO4, CP2077, BG3, any of the myriad of games I use Nexus, either when they were new or now that they're all years old.

I remember seeing complaints that uploaded images were low res when Nexus started using webp, so I wondered if that was an issue. As you say, you'd think they would want the best quality they can muster.

Personally, I don't like the harsh Skyrim look, but I haven't even finished the tutorial yet, so I can't judge.
