Any console commands/mods that let you fix the camera in one place and control your character?

So I'd like to go freecam, put the camera in a certain place, leave it there and record my character, say, walking. I know about tfc and tfc 1 but they don't let me move the character and animcam moves the camera with the character while I would like it to stay in place. I found some people saying that a certain combination of console commands should work for that (tfc 1 -> player.tc -> tfc -> tfc) but it doesn't work for me. The only thing that I found that would work is the Puppeteer Master mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10870). But I used it some in the past and it was quite a bit of effort to set up one simple scene. Controlling my character manually would be a hundred times more convenient for me. Or some sort of record feature where you can replay recent actions would work too. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations.

Hi, Robotlev. Most (95%) of my films are in the supporter section of image share (they're not adult in my opinion, but Nexus Mods has very strict rules, so I I play it safe by sticking mostly to that section).

But I generally use the following techniques:

1. Photo Mode (it's a mod)

This is seriously powerful. You can set up multiple characters each playing different animations (like runway walk, dancing, reading, whatever)  and can control the speed, lighting and more while you do it. This is a very powerful tool.

Sometimes I even set up my character dancing then let the vanity camera of the game kick in, and I have my character dancing while the camera spins around her in circles. This can be very beautiful if you set it up correctly and control the game speed. [Edit: on that vanity camera, I can't quite remember if I do it with the Photo Mode or the player.playidle command.]

2. Customizable Camera

This is very handy if I want to have a character walking across a landscape but want the camera to follow at a specific height and/or angle. I use this a lot.

3. Setting the non-fly camera where I want it anticipating where the characters will go while they walk or dance and then just record without moving the camera. Here's an example of that:  (click the picture to see the film.)

Basically I mix and match the above three techniques to do what you mention, having my character(s) do their thing while the camera watches them not quite participating.

Also, by the way, if you intend to film, make sure you set the fly camera to a very slow speed (such as "sucsm 0.5") so you don't get jerky movement if you do move a fly camera.

Post script: Since you also asked for console commands, I'll explain how I did the following using console commands.

[Side note to moderator: if this film is inappropriate for this forum, I ask your forgiveness and that you remove it if so. Thank you.]

1. I installed a mod called sensual dancer because it has a dance I love a lot (the hurly burly).

2. help hurly 4 idle

3. player.playidle [the name of the hurly burly dance]

4. sgtm 0.4 (this is to set the game speed. 1.0 is full speed, 0.1 would be very slow and good for if you're filming combat. I like 0.5 for walking and 0.4 or so for dancing)

5. I set up the weather and time of day and any lighting I felt was appropriate.

6. tm (to toggle the menu)

7. I started recording (with nvidia card it's alt-z and then select record in menu)

8. I let go of the mouse and keyboard and waited for vanity camera to kick in.

The result: (click image to play film)

Thank you for the suggestions! I will try Photo Mode out to see it's features and hopefully find what I need. I've thought about Customizable Camera but still I need the camera to stay in place and the player character to walk. Camera that's following the character is not exactly what I need. In the past I've done some filming with static scenes (tfc 1 + sucsm + moving the camera) and also filming different idle animations from FNIS with tfc. But that were animations that play basically in one place and don't move the character from point A to B.

So I tried Photo Mode but I can't see a way for me to control my character's movement or make him walk to a destination. I can only change his position but it's not animated. Am I maybe missing something? Also installed Puppeteer Master and making NPCs walk is actually not terribly difficult. But I seem to be remembering that to make the player walk you need to spawn a copy of him and then probably also add to his inventory all the gear you have equipped which may be more trouble than it's worth. It feels like an easy feature to implement, to place the camera somewhere and get back control of your character. It's a shame I'm not that knowledgeable about developing mods, otherwise I'd take a crack at it myself.

I sometimes use the Model walk from mods like Bathing Beauties Music. It has a haughty, graceful runway walk where the character is walking in a large square-like runway, with arrogant, huffy turns when changing direction, and it looks very good and works with a static camera. I use the walk animation with Nemesis (to register it with the game) and Photo Mode (to position the character starting position and angle and the like).

While I've got a couple of films using that, I can't link them here.

p.s. I also sometimes use Photo Mode to play combat animations from VioLens.

darned cool idea. I like.

copied method to file. Thanks much for the insights. I presume it can be applied much the same way for other idles/etc (with different settings to optimize for a given idle and circumstance...

Found a different solution. I remembered that there was a mod that lets you pick a destination and then make your character AI pathfind to it. Googled it and found Auto Move https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/42845

And it works! I set a custom destination on the map, press the auto move button and then go tfc. My character walks and I can even move my camera while he does, not just put it in one place. It has some limitations though, I have to mark the destination on the world map which won't let you set it very accurately and you can't set it indoors at all, you can only make your character go to the cell's exit to reach the custom marker outside. But still it's good enough for my purposes, I can work with this and maybe you'll get some use out of it too.

That's a cool solution. Thanks for sharing it, Robotlev. I do that in Black Desert Online when I want to film someone walking from the front because BDO doesn't have 360 degree walking.

With regard to Skyrim SE, though, don't forget to use the sucsm command to a tiny number so you don't get jerky camera movement when you adjust the view.

Also if you use the "sgtm 0.4" command with a non-jog walk the character's walk will look extra graceful.
