Azzizle
Hi, I have just started modding and am trying to do some extremely simple things with the GECK Editor, like making my own weapons then changing the projectile animation to another in game animation. I have done this plenty of times at a friends house (even once making a bat that shoots baseballs) but when i try it at my house something is wrong, Its kind of hard to explain correctly, ill try to upload a screen shot, but i can't find any of the games model files in the data folder, (C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data) if i look in the data folder myself i can find Textures.BSA but I can't access it. I think my problem is just some simple filing mishap, because when i play the game everything is working properly. Can anyone tell me if the know for certain that I am looking in the wrong place? If not, could you tell me how to remedy the problem or the names of some of the *.dds files or *.nif so i can do a search on my computer for them? Here is a picture, IDK how much it will help
Skotte
Your friend might have already extracted the .bsa files on that computer by default the .nifs are in "Fallout - Meshes.bsa" the .DDS's are in "Fallout - Textures.bsa". >FOMM< has a good BSA unpacker
october21
Yeah, do what Skotte said. Also, just a tip: Set up special folders inside your meshes, textures and sound folders where you can extract all the resources to. like textures/out/ or textures/mymods or something like that. Azzizle
ok, new problem now, got FOMM worked like a charm, but now when i create a new weapon in the GECK editor, it doesn't put it in the corresponding spot (2handrifles or whatever) it makes a new folder that is independent from the weapons folder in GECK, a "Meshes" folder. When I place the gun in a cell and go to retrieve it, it looks nice and everything, but when i equip it, it is attached to my arm, floating a few inches away. When I attack, my guy preforms a punch with the gun attacked to my arm, ill get a screenshot up soon
