Children in Oblivion?

Think any kids are going to make it into oblivion? Not likely...I think with the degree of realism we are going for, the developers might be concerned with publics reaction. Can you imagine some mother grundy watching her fat 32 year old son killing kids and taking their clothes?

I am positive though, that eventually a plugin will come out with kids, just like in morrowind.

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

i want kids for above reasons...

so helpless

Okay, final confirmation that kids will, in fact, not be in the game at all:

No children. The basic reason is, see though, our character systems, you know, how they change clothes, and everything like that. Everything comes built the same scale to fit on characters. So we scaled them up and up a little bit, but drastic things like that can break our character system. We do have a great range of ages in the game. For example, when you make your character, there’s an age slider. So you can make them look young or old. And, you know, take the ranges like early twenties to late sixties and what falls between that range.
So we can have characters in the game from 21-69 by the sounds of it but no younger than that. :P Sounds like if they tried to add kids it would add on a lot of development time.

I guess we'll have to leave it in the hands of our ever-capable mod community. :D

Undoubtedly. Puts the pointless "age 60 years in a day by increasing skills" system that Fable used to shame. :D

It's a shame that that level of realism won't be in the game, though. But I doubt really we'll be stopping and scrutinising the fact that there aren't any children when we're staring at lip-synched speech, Radiant A.I. and graphics that can kill a man at 20 paces. ^^

Agreed, besides which, I have complete faith in the army of talented moderators out there.

The noticable difference in age is a major step regardless. People in Morrowind did display a difference in ages..but not always. I mean, it was more a superficial effect than an actual stat on the NPC.

Haha I wonder if you can access the NPC's ages in the Oblivion Construction Kit?

It's been said that you can, I think. I would think all NPCs have an age slider just like the player does. After all, it's their aim to make the features of the new CS very simple and accessible, right? :P

And yeah. With NPCs in Morrowind it was just textures that determined how old they looked; most of them didn't look a day over 30. This'll add a lot more age realism to the game... who knows, maybe TES V will have ages 0-100? :D
