ExodusEvil
Sup folks. Alright, I'm really new to the game or more over just got a system that could actually support running the game. Horray for HD! Anyway questions, note: Lots of them will be stupid: Whats Ascension? I keep seeing videos where people are floating with crazy lights bursting from their chests. Is that actually part of the game itself? Or some trainer or something? Secondly, the class you choose from the beginning, is that the class you will stay through the whole game? Sorry to throw a dnd reference but are their prestige classes or something of that nature? That pretty much does it for now... Thanks for your answers. :thanks:

David Brasher
The Elder Scrolls games are rather liberal compared to Dungeons and Dragons. You never have to worry about, "May not be used by mages." Any character can do anything. He be a mage, a warrior, and a rogue. This game system doesn't have the classification "priest." Most of the priests you meet are mages or rogues. I thought it was very strange at first that a priest might be a rogue. I guess actually he or she would not be a rogue, but a stealth character. That makes more sense. Once you leave the character generation dungeon, your class is locked and cannot be changed. But who cares? Your warrior can decide to play as a mage. Your mage can decide to be a warrior. Thieves are hard to play, and never get good at what they do. They tend to be warriors that steal things, or mages that steal things. Unless a person really is focused on staying a warrior or staying a mage, he or she will turn into a battle-mage or spell-sword that is good with locks. You level up faster if you roleplay your class well, but it is a game. Do what is fun for you. In Oblivion, you must play with a good alignment. The alternative is to play with a bad alignment and not get caught, or play with a bad alignment and kill or evade lots and lots of guards every time you try to go anywhere. I guess you could live in the wilderness with your bad alignment and not go to town. Oblivion is a great game. I think you will like it.
