theophantus
Hello folks. Just installed Oblivion game of the year edition. Done all the recommended system requirement checks, everything seems ok. When i load the game though, im faced with a white screen and no amount of messing with the settings is changing the issue. Do i need to patch the game? If so, what is the latest patch. Regards, Theo.

theophantus
Well ive downloaded the latest patch UK V 1.2.0416. Nothings changed, ive still got everything in white. I can just about see the outline of tables, chairs etc, but thats it. Being the game of the year edition, im assuming that i don't have to load the Shivering isles content, which is on a separate disc, as this would make no difference to the visuals? The problem must be the display adapter is not up for the job. Truly gutted! Ive played over 700 hrs + with one characther on the Xbox. Just think of all those lovely Mods i can't play with. The nude ones look quite appealing! If anyone can tell me different, please reply. Theo.
alex2avs
sounds like a direct X problem . Direct X 9.0c should be available on microsoft.com ;)
roquefort
Yes get DirectX 9.0 if you don't already have it, and the latest drivers for your card. That said, your overall spec does seem a little low for Oblivion, and another gig of RAM wouldn't be a bad idea, plus a more powerful graphics card with at least 256Mb onboard memory. Neither of these need be too pricy. This is one game that does pay big dividends with better hardware ;)
theophantus
Thanks guys, i'll try the direct x 9.0 thing first! Dont know how to get the latest drivers for my card. The alternative would be to up grade or to purchase a new computer. Thinking about it, i like the new computer idea more and more! Any advice on the specification for the new machine. Thanks Theo. roquefort
Dont know how to get the latest drivers for my card. Updated drivers are usually available for download from the website of your card manufacturer, generally in a section called `support', along with other useful info ;) As for computer specs; for a start, check the advised requirements for the game and try to get close to that.
