S4_Tacitus
First off, I'm S4_Tacitus, first came to FO3 Nexus, then got the GoTY Oblivion after remembering the fond memories of pushing the irritating fanboy off cliffs and conducting increasingly gruesome deaths for him. Kay, so on to business. So I was thinking. What about merging a ranged and melee weapon into one. Kinda like the Talon of Horus. At first, I dismissed it, because a) the Oblivion engine probably wouldn't be able to handle the switch between a 'bow' and a 'sword' and b) I needed to urgently go to the toilet, after which I forgot about it for a day. This morning on the way to catch the train, the idea popped back in, and I was about to dismiss it, but then I remembered both Frostmourne and the Elven weaponry (by Adonnay, I think), both of which have a script that switch them from 1h to 2h, and as for the Elven weaponry, the daggers could be switched to be 'shields'. Both of which are possible because of the Oblivion Script Extender. Therefore, I was thinking that if you could use the same script used in both mods, instead this time you switch from melee to ranged, it just might work. What do ya'll think? What do ya'll think? The fundamental action is still the same. You are taking one item, removing it, and replacing it with another, and requires some means of switching between the two. This is the only way to do something like this. It's possible without OBSE, but OBSE allows for some consistency features, like durability to be carried over. BadPrenup
oh yeah this is easy peasy to do. a simple spell or item to cause the switch. The only thing that would be problematic would be making a mesh of a bow that would also be a realistic choice for a melee weapon as well
S4_Tacitus
Doesn't have to be 'Oblivion realistic'. Its a mod. If you wanna get technical, I suppose you could try merging a polearm with a crossbow. The bolt/arrow comes out the rear of the polearm.
