install or uninstall multiple mods at once

No. It is never advisable to install more than one mod at a time. It always leads to problems - and that's for experienced modders who know how to trouble shoot their installs thoroughly. Giving a batch install feature to NMM would be a very bad idea.

^^This. Install one mod at a time and test it, that way if something goes wrong you know where to start looking, add lots at once and you won't know where to start.

The people that demand a batch installer have not yet experienced the misery of spending 3 days trying to figure out which mod - or mods causes their problems - just to wipe everything and start over - this time installing one mod at a time and testing before installing the next.

My recommendations

Start the game and play through the intro/tutorial with no mods - make a permanent save as soon as you finish that part. That save should never be changed as it gives you a fall back to use for troubleshooting.
Now add mods to your hearts content - one or a maximum of 3 at a time - TEST every time. When you have a problem, find and correct that problem before going on. Then when you have a working game with the mods make another permanent save.

And then back up the data folder, it makes reinstalling/repairing after a major disaster so much easier.
