I thought beth fixed thier product?

Sooooo wtf is beth doing? I thought they fixed thier damn game with 1.6?

Maybe I just missed the memo or something?

As patch after patch has come and gone, I realized that nothings been done about the rampant CTDs.

 

Scenerio 1

You shooting at smething. CRASH

Scenerio 2

Your running. CRASH

Scenerio 3

VATS. CRASH

 

Wild physics engine? Game data getting clogged or something?

Come on beth. Heads in the game...

Considering that you see a lot of these engines in other games (like Havok in Spore and SpeedTree in Sims 3), its not really hard to narrow down the problematic engine. Especially when one does all the 3D rendering, skinning, particle simulation, lighting, scene graphing, collision detection, shaders, audio, and LoD (Gamebryo). If a problem arises in using such an engine, then Bethesda really has no choice but to wait until the developers who work on the engine fix whatever it is.

 

There's also the issue of video drivers and their complexity being such that it is critical to have the right version driver for this game, and there are some audio drivers that have been noted to be difficult. Drivers don't always interface with your application the way you expect, and not-so-robust software will show this by faulting (aka CTD).
