Suggestion: Daedric War

Had a cool idea but cant find it any where and also i aint got a clue how you use that modding stuff :P

any way here goes

At the beggining of the game towards the end of the tutorial when the emperor is still alive there is a never ending spawn of those evil daedric worshippers.

I was thinking that there could be a new patch of land built and have an oblivion gate on it that cannot be closed and that would contantly spawn deadra. and then there could be a castle on the other sidfe of the same island that spawned imperial guards, that way you would have a 24/7 unstoppable war.

I thought this would be fun and a good way to get those hard to do skills up...

OR: you could limit the amount on the battle field at one time with an item or sumething for those people with low end computers.

If there is a mod out there similar to this could someone please give me the name of it :)

:ermm: . If there is an open field in the middle, it could be possible. No people going into and out of interiors though.

Still...It wouldn't stretch up the limit of 15-16 people at one time thát far....

That is the normal limit, many shall tell that it is impossible to simulate a war, simply because the system isn't build to support it. Ever wondered why there are such few actors around?

There are some tools too stretch it up..but it is very basic, just fighting would be possible. Not any (good) AI.

Welcome to the Nexus Forums by the way.

Actually, if this was possible, I think it would go great with emperors glory when it gets finished.

I guess it would be a Castle/Oblivion Sigil Tower War.

With Watch Towers Trenches... ect/

It would be cool if you could choose sides as well. (Only if you aren't emperor otherwise you have to stay with your side :P)

It could also add on to a Daedra guild/faction and have misisons to attack the emperor ect. (You would have to be a dremora race to play this side, but you can still interact normally with any other quest)

Empires glory?

That would be a bit lore-unfriendly, that is going to take place after the oblivion crisis....

We're trying to keep it at least a bit lore-friendly :).

Although I appreciate the thought. Hehe, don't worry. We've got quite enough for people to cope with after the big quests.

Maybe if you put on a suit of daedric armor, you'll be able to join the daedra instead of the imperial legion.

(Provided that the player shall be able to wear it at lower levels with lower armor ratings.)

Bear in mind that if you want to fight something in a bigger scale than 15 people, no advanced things can happen....

I don't even know if any AI would work at all...I never saw someone use the scale down functions yet, lol

I don't even know if they work :P.

I wrote an article explaining how something like this could be setup awhile back. I havn't gone back to working on the proof of concept mod, but the kinda tutorial on how to do it should be enough to work from.

http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=220

I believe the most that anyone has been able to push things is something like a total of 50 NPCs in combat... However, the NPCs all use the same equipment, have the same face, and are scripted to force starting combat with eachother. The field is also entirely empty. Meaning that, although it can be done by simplifying the scene to its fullest, and using every method to reduce AI load, because of what is needed to make it work, there aren't many places where you could even use it.

The example provided in that article is about as close as you're going to be able to get to what you want without having to take any of those steps. Make no mistake, a battle against a constant 6-7 attackers is still rather epic.

There is a mod called "Daedric Wargames" - here on TESNexus - that lets you control the forces of Sheogorath against those of Mehrunes Dagon in one of three battlefields (an open one for a skirmish, a fortress-like defensive, and an assault on a fortified hill). It uses base AI, such as the placemeat scripting, but the battles are often quite interesting, allowing you to spawn troops right at you and decide the outcome of a battle.

It is rather simple, but there are a myriad of 'units' to choose from, ranging from Saints and Seducers to a giant Flesh Atronach (The Gatekeeper, I think) and spellcasters that focus on damage or healing. I find it rather amusing, and have often spent my play time only doing those wargames.
