Weird Freezes and Crashes

Hey, everyone.

 

I'm having some rather peculiar issues with my game that I'm hoping to get resolved. Take a look through the list below for more information.

 

1) Whenever encountering a loading screen (when entering or exiting buildings for example), the in-game loading wheel (the roulette wheel) will freeze, the blue "Windows not responding wheel" (http://www.anicursor.com/aerobusy.gif) pops up for a few seconds, and then the game finishes loading (the loading screen disappears and it goes back into the actual game).

 

2) Occasionally when pressing ESC to open the pause menu, the game will freeze for a few seconds, where the blue "Windows not responding" wheel pops up, and then the menu will open as normal.

 

3) Occasionally the "program has stopped working window" (http://blogs.msdn.com/blogfiles/virtualearth/WindowsLiveWriter/VirtualEarth3DInstallIssuewithWindows7_7E86/image_thumb.png) will pop up (the one where it says it's checking for a solution to the problem, and has a cancel button that you can click). When this happens, sometimes I can click the cancel button and the game will keep working as normal, and other times it will crash when I click it. This happens a lot when I get killed, and is often accompanied by the "stuck audio" bug where the audio stutters the last sound to be played, and I have to go into the Device Manager to disable and enable my sound card in order to get the sound loop to stop, and my audio to function properly again.

 

I don't know what is causing these issues, but it's incredibly annoying, and quite game-breaking. If I need to take pictures or videos to help show what is happening, I can try to do so if it will help with the troubleshooting. In the meantime, attached are the specs of my PC, my current list of installed mods, and my load order.

 

Please, please help me get this fixed! I don't want to lose my save, as I'm pretty far into the game. :sad:

P.S. - Some of the mods in my load order (New Varmint Rifle.esp and New Cowboy Repeater.esp) are simple mods I made to change those weapons to use other in-game models so I could add different weapon mods to them. For example, I made the Cowboy Repeater use the Trail Carbine NIF files so I can add the Trail Carbine scope to it, as well as the Sniper Rifle Suppressor. I don't think these would be the issue.

 

P.P.S. - I forgot to mention that I use the 4GB Fallout: New Vegas mod, New Vegas Stutter Remover, Darnified UI, and I launch through the Fake Fullscreen Windowed Mode mod launcher.

ASUS Xonar DGX 5.1 Channel = make sure the Game thing is not ticked in the Xonar software. I cant give specific name as i dont use the Xonar Drivers any more, i use the UNI-Driver for my ASUS Xonar Essence STX.

 

1) Windows thinks the Game is taking to long and is not responsive.

2) same as above.

3) That's a crash, the Audio thing i was also getting, till i uninstalled the official Xonar Drivers, and installed the unofficial UNI-driver/c-media. (The game thing, (eax?) can cause this also , on the right side of the Xonar software window you see a bunch of icons in a circle one of them has to do with "Game" if its on turn it OFF , visea versea.

 

Do you have to run in a window? Think 1 and 2 would just be because the game is in a window? The game runs great without the fake window stuff.

Open stutter remover.ini (\data\nvse\plugins) make sure "bReplaceHeap =" is set to 0 (OFF) so would be>>bReplaceHeap = 0 (it says in the INI that its not supported and I can say for certain that if ON (1) it will cause you to freeze/crash.

 

I see you cleaned the DLC"s, nice (well at least BOSS thinks you did) I don't see a "merge patch" or a "Bashed Patch, 0.esp" i would think you need one with this list.

Doesn't FOOK and PN need the convergence thing to play nice together. I don't run FOOK so have no incites to that.

 

Take advantage of those "BASH tags" that BOSS says by installing WryeflashNV and building a Bashed Patch. I swear by it and wouldn't run the game without it.

1. I'm not sure what you mean by the audio settings, so I'll just post my current settings in the DGX Audio Center application.

 

Audio Channels: 2

Sample Rate: PCM 96 KHz

Analog Out: FP Headphone

7.1 Virtual Speaker Shifter enabled; left on default settings.

Dolby Headphone enabled; set to DH-1, "Reference Room" for less echoing sound.

 

2. The reason I run the game in windowed mode and use the Fake Fullscreen mod is because Gopher recommended it in his Modding Fallout New Vegas series. He claims it improves performance. I've actually never tried switching to regular fullscreen mode and using the 4GB launcher...

 

3. I don't know why it thinks both of those Realistic Lighting files are active; only one of them is. EDIT: Oh, I see why. Apparently I somehow uploaded my old BOSS log somehow? I have no idea how that happened, but I've attached the REAL, NEW BOSS log to the first post. Take a look at it now. You'll see FNVRWL isn't even installed anymore (I switched to Nevada Skies). I also have the uncleaned DLC masters now (did a Verify Game Cache in Steam).

 

4. I never saw mention of any "convergence thing" on the Project Nevada or FOOK pages.

 

5. I still don't fully understand what this whole "Bashed Patch" thing is all about.

Wrye is not as important to Fallout as it is to say Oblivion or Skyrim. A bashed patch merges a lot of things together that would not normally get to exist in a game.

 

Lets say we have 2 mods, mod A changes the Hair of an NPC and only the hair. And mod B changes the face, eyes, inventory, class , mouth , teeth and Voice.

 

IF we load mod A before mod b we get everything from mod B. (last loading wins) and the hair is not changed.

IF we load mod B first and MOD A last then we only get the Hair. and you lose everything from MOD B.

 

What the Bashed patch (or a merged patch from FNVEdit) will do is combine both mods and we get everything. This is why load order is important.

The "TAGS" you see from BOSS tell Wrye what is important. These things will get blended...lol

 

ITs either called "GX" or "DX" mode. In the Xonar sound software.

" For those of you with Xonar soundcards you need to disable DX mode on the bottom right side in the Xonar audio center"

 

This is known to cause crashes.

Ah, okay. Then no, I don't have the "GX" mode enabled. The modes I have down in that bottom-right corner are HF and GX, both of which are disabled. So, I don't think that is causing any of the problems.

 

I don't currently have the Convergence Patch, but I just downloaded and installed it. I think I need some of the other files from the mod as well; the New Vegas Redesigned 2 and WMX compatibility patches, as I have both of those mods installed, and you apparently need those if you want to use them with this Convergence Patch. To me, that actually seems pretty stupid though; it's just adding in a bunch more ESP files to your load order, and there's a 140 file limit...

 

So, do I NEED this Wyre Bash thing, or not? It still doesn't make complete sense to me, and I'd probably screw something up, lol.

in my game....Wrye (the bashed patch) makes 7119 edits. Yes 2000 of the edits are because i let Wrye do Item sorting, the rest are edits that are blending things together. I don't think i could run any of the Bethesda games without Wrye.

 

13 of my mods are merged into the patch so they don't count toward the mod limit.

 

Then again i game hard , I have run FalloutNV for over 7 hours straight and no crash , in 40 game hours i have very few crashes, most of those i would say are from me pushing it way to hard...lol

Don't think I would try this without Wrye. Does anyone need Wrye...no most things would be harmless one mod canceling anthers edits, that can make a mod behave badly. A merge patch from FNVEdit can also help make mods play nice together. I have compared the 2 kinds of patches and to me it looked like the Bashed patch included more and left less conflicts.

EDIT: and as i slowly creep up to this magical 139 mod limit i plan to get to 200+ mods like i did for Skyrim/Oblivion. Hell in Oblivion i had 265 mods thanks to Bash and mods merged into the patch!.
