mechine
Okay so I made this mod an was wondering if it could be the cause of a save game crash. I have auto save turned off, an create new save points rather than auto. I haven't tried the mods for save games. I use 1.5 masterupdated, on a 8800GT SLI, Win XP SP3. It only happened one time, an I'm trying to make it happen again to see if it's because of a mod I madean am close to uploading that mod. I guess the question is what kind of things would cause a crash, if the games running finean then right when you create a new save point it crashes? gsmanners
There's really no telling what could cause a crash. The only thing I've noticed is when modifying an armor object script, but that made it crash before the game even finished loading. Anything look suspicious? mechine
shoot Idk I thought maybe it was because it wasn't master updated So I moved a mod in the list then master updated the whole thing After I finished making that mod I was working on. Now it's loaded after MMM, but MMM said to have it load last. I reckon I could try moving that mod before MMM in with the stuff that doesn't really matter Like weapons an stuff. It did happen again after the master update. And then I tried it again after fixing a text string in a mesh that matched the main item but I got pwned by a poop ton of raiders lol I thought I was far enough away but they saw me at like 100 yards or so then like 20 or more of them ran up on the overpass I was on So I died before I could save. Idk yall could try that new mod of mine. I doubt it's that though, unless it was that mesh text string being a 0 instead of a 1 That's the real killer, if a mesh is missing something like a tiny part of a weapon, or is too messy then bam it crashes, an not everytime or for everyone. That's a tough one...
nk911ea
A missing mesh shouldnt be enough to crash the game though. I can attest however that if you run certain mods together (primarily MMM) w/o have mod compatibility patches running you can have all sorts of errors, everything from CTD's to your noted Save crash. In some cases where auto IS enabled you can go up to an hour playing along w/o knowing ur crashing. The autosave prompt comes up so you think ur safe, only to find out it didnt actually save and you CTD when you manually try to do it. No idea if this would be your issue but looking into forming a compatibility patch, perhaps thumbin around with FOiP for a bit might give you a start for troubleshooting. Hope that helps. mechine
Ouch that sounds awful. I didn't find out much. Besides not being able to link it to any mod I was running at the time. Now I don't even think the master update stuff had anything to do with it either. I'm thinking that it was either from a corupted save or from cleaning up saves, deleting the saves before while I loaded an saved new oneswhich kept me around 3 save points at the max. Also overwriting save files could have played a part, if it did then it would be betterto just create new saves, an then have like 15 of them. I ended up deleting the saves an making another charicter, an then keeping 10 or 15 savesalways creating a new save rather than overwriting. It could be something that happened before I saved that time. I should have followed it more. Rolled it back and tryed to test to narrow it downto a corupt save point, whoops, It's safe to call it corupted save points though. It's funny now each time I save I'm like pause, an wait for the OH face OH!
gsmanners
I usually make new saves all the time without overwriting. After I'm done playing, then I go into the folder and delete all but the 20 or so newest ones. If it's an important point in the game, I might make a backup of a save file elsewhere. Seems kind of weird that the game doesn't automatically work like this, given how obvious it is to me that this is the "correct" way.
