Enabling item codes?

I'm completely new to PC gaming and modding but have been getting pretty comfortable over the past week.

I've been able to use console commands to get any item I need, except for custom items from mods. I get an "item '#' not found... compiled script not saved" error.

I'm trying to add custom items from FOOK to an NPC.

FOOK's item code file states the Uzi's item code is fk004B80 and also states: fk = "FOOK.esm" mod index

FOOK.esm's mod index is 02 for me.

So in game, I (~), click the NPC, and type "additem 02004B80 1"

Am I supposed to "compile a script" or anything? I'm using FOMM. I feel like I'm supposed to do something to activate the codes because the codes themselves are working for me and I can use the custom items in game. Just havent been able to acquire them through console commands all week.

Thanks

Finally found a way to make it work by using the INV command although the IDs are still the same.. it works after I go there. :s

Yall are silly just get THRASH or whatever an trade the weapon

I'd be weary of the console comands, you'll cheat an ruin the game sort of

I mean if you can cheat an always win or always get what you want

then you kind of miss the whole sifting thru detritus point of Fallout

What you want to do is use nailed to death with MMM3, and FOOK tougher enemys

then don't cheat an die 1600 times with increased increased spawns

And the hardest game setting with no ammo hardly ever getting past level 2

Some of them one hit kill me. It's great. a pack of 30 wild dogs!

Personally I don't use FOOK, but your problem could be caused by "hardcoded" item IDs. If FOOK uses hardcoded IDs (ie. if they are not dependent on the mod load order), you actually have to use the IDs listed in the documentation for the mod. Basically if the item is stated as having "FK004B80" as its ID, try typing that as the actual ID rather than the customary "02004B80" as would be the case if the mod had dynamically assigned IDs.

@mechine:

The purpose of the console is as a designer debugging tool, and it is incredibly useful for this purpose. While I don't doubt that there are people who will misuse it in order to make the game easier for them, which probably increases their enjoyment. There are some mods, as well, that require the use of the console to acquire certain items, for one reason or another.

@Baelkin:

Given that FormIDs are hexadecimal numbers, and "FK004B80" is not a valid hexadecimal number, I expect that those two digits are simply placeholders for the load-order adjusted digits that are required. As far as I know, FOSE does not have any FormID errors along these lines.

@mans1ay3r:

I'm surprised to hear that same FormIDs worked after they were viewed in the console via ShowInventory, are you certain that you were trying the same FormIDs before and you hadn't changed your load order in any way? Well, either way, ShowInventory remains a very convenient way of finding load-order adjusted FormIDs in-game, and I'm glad you've managed to solve your problem.

I just tried it again without using INV and its working. Just a matter of getting familiar because I realized sometimes I will click an NPC, but it actually selects the item behind them. So I was technically trying to add an item to a static object even though I had clicked directly on the NPC. But thats another prob solved, and the INV command is pretty useful so the issue helped me learn something else. :)

Mechine, I beat the game several times already. At the moment, I'm getting familiar with the commands, mods, and geck now that I have this on PC.

Bah you're a nooby nub nub just like the rest of us.

lolz, naw, I'm the nooby nub nub, an people actually listen to me.

So what does that make them, idk, can't be good though.

But you have to try.

I think I messed up.

What I was trying to say is that TRASCH .esp will let you trade any item in your inventory to any NPC

It's ingame, whcih I thought was better.

I mean yeah I agree using the ~ comands is great, but only for testing mods you make.

I don't think we were talking about that though

hence the warning about ~ comands to cheat ruining the game somewhat.

I guess the arguement would be

"eh, naw it's not cheating, I can live with it"

But then if you can have whatever you want whenever you want

you just missed the whole point I reckon.

So in saying that does it mean that the point is to hardly have anything

drinking out of toilets, running from super mutants, sifting thru endless detritus

in a world of debris. And for what? Super cool fights. Survival. Pwnage.

Idk I kind of think the fun part is when you get really owned bad

an bits an parts of your charicter get spewed across the ground.

LOLZ today I saw a baby deathclaw float straght up into space only when I shot at it

So I guess the bugs are killer coolness too. Btw I got tired of waiting on the deathclaw

to fall back down so I could kill it, so I just moved on...
