Kissimurra
Bethesda has said that they will release the system requirements for oblivion soon. What do you guys think that you will need to run Oblivion smoothly? It will be really pixelshader heavy but they have said that the game will be much more scaleable than morrowind was. I have just upgraded my PC to be sure that I can play Oblivion with decent FPS and Image quality. This is what I bought: AMD Athlon 64 3800+1024 MB 400Mhz Ram,Asus A8V Deluxe Motherboard,Gefroce 6600GT Golden Sample ( from my older PC) I really hope that this will be enough to play Oblivion. What do you think?
KzinistZerg
*picks up an ice cube* will this work? I'm hoping my comp will run Obliv- it ran MW just fine, as well as about 5,000 other games... *crosses fingers*

Kissimurra
I have searched the webb and it seems that the minimum requirements is a Radeon 9600 Pro or equivilent. That the only thing I could find.
Lycan
I don't know but my PC is too weak that's for sure!!!
Switch
Well, you certainly don't have anything to worry about by the looks of it Kissimurra. :D I'm hoping it'll run ok on my specs. The only thing I'm worried about is my CPU, it has a habit of overheating and making my PC reboot when playing EQ2 on high graphics. I turned the graphics down but it still runs extremely slowly. I wouldn't think it's my graphics card as it's a GeForce 6800 GT. My RAM is 512MB which I'm going to double soon with any luck... if that doesn't help the situation I think I'll have to buy a new CPU before Oblivion will run at all. :/

Yeah, my friend had the same problem and he has a 6800GT, it gets very hot during full load, between 80 to 100C! But if it is your graphics card that is getting hot, the PC would no reboot, it would just hang up. What kind of CPu do you have?
Abramul
Pretty much all I know for certain: DVD drive EDIT: Dilvish, you'll want to clear out some stuff from your HD, and get more RAM (I think we'll need more than 512).

Sorry I probably worded that poorly. ^^ Did a check on it on startup after one of the crashes, and it was at 73C. I turned the graphics down to almost minimum and now it keeps more around 55C and the computer doesn't crash anymore. But the game still runs disproportionately slowly on minimum graphics, it's ridiculous. In the main city things drop to 1-2 FPS. Load times are a little nutty too, up to 3 minutes sometimes. I have an AMD Athlon XP 2600+. Actual running speed is around 2ghz. It's not very powerful by modern standards, but I don't think it should be having as much trouble as it is. Like I said, if things don't improve soon, then I'm not gunna have a chance at running Oblivion. :/
Abramul
Switch, when's the last time you dusted the CPU fan? I'm running an AMD Athlon 64-bit 2800+, but the listed speed in My Computer Properties is 1.8 GHz. Not sure which speed it actually runs...but it stays stable at 48 C.
