sullilex
I had an idea for a mod but, granted my extremely limited modding experience, figured I'd post here. The concept would be fairly simple, once a certain amount of bounty is placed on the player, bounty hunters start going after the player every couple of days until the bounty is cleared (or lowered below some threshold) or the player is dead. The only thing I could find like this is the Player Hunters mod, which involved fame and infamy, and ended after you eliminated all the 8 or so groups coming after you. I just can't stand the idea of a player walking around after killing towns full of people and the Legion doing absolutely nothing to slow down such a master thief or killer when s/he's off in the woods or in a ruin, and can be stopped with less collateral damage. I want law enforcement to scare me, once I get in over my head. The Legion doing nothing to proactively stop extreme criminals seems rather immersion-breaking to me. I would prefer the mod be designed toward post-main game, probably for higher-level characters, as I personally like being hunted/pursued and forced to look over my shoulder- the fear of the unknown, not knowing where or when they'll try to kill me is a great thrill. I really enjoyed the Terminator mods for FO3 and would love to see an bounty/outlaw mod for Oblivion. Obviously I don't care if it interferes with quests by killing NPCs caught in the crossfire- this adds a depth of realism to the brutality of being one of the most wanted of Cyrodiil, which is what I'm interested in :) I've begun looking at scripts myself but as my skills are very limited I thought I'd come over to the forums and see if anyone can do/has done this. Similar mod structure could be used for vampire hunters (after feeding certain number of times or what-have-you) or maybe insane environmentalists relentlessly hunting you for picking all the Nirnroots, or other silly versions of the mod. Ideally, bounty hunters would begin showing up solo, and be low-level and poorly equipped. The tactics and team sizes could expand and change, with Imperial Legion task forces and expert bounty hunters going after you once bounty has hit a higher level. After bounty exceeds a very high or extreme number, like 100,000+ Gold, you'll start seeing top-notch Imperial teams laying ambushes or surrounding/blocking off buildings the player was recently seen in, as well as boss-level bounty hunter crews and foreign mercenaries also pursuing you. Nice touches would be notes detailing player's regional location at the time being found on assassination crews, or at bounties under 20k the Legion not aggressing you right away and offering you chance to surrender by guard dialogue. The idea would be to make the high-end encounters to be overpowered, intended to make short work of lower-level characters anyway, and give even high-end players a good reason to be afraid. I'd love to see me and my companions have a reason to worry that when they stay at an Inn between towns that they may wake up to 40 Legion soldiers surrounding the place and a pounding on the door. Again, I don't know much at all about scripts, script effects, or OBSE- I've been downloading Oblivion mods for a while but new to actually posting and participating in this community instead of being just a pubbie :) I'm also very green with using the CS in general, but I can do simpler tasks like editing items or adding new actors to the database. I'm wondering how much time a project like this would take or if a modder would be willing to tackle such a task. Thanks, sullilex (PS: I'd love to see this- "In this copy of Black Horse Courier, hunt continues after infamous villain evades Legion rangers after a raid on a safe house in Blackwood, at least twelve Legion casualties, villain's bounty now at staggering 93,000 Gold!")
Doomsdaylee
Excellent idea! I think the only thing that could make it better would be, for more lawful (or better thief) characters could get quests to hunt bounties themselves.
MikeHibs
Very good idea. Sadly I'm really no good at modding. I hope someone will be able to make something of it.
alex2avs
here's another thread opened for about the same general idea : http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=137824 Maybe you could team up and come up with even more & greater ideas ;)
