Description

Blender is the free open source 3D content creation suite, available for all major operating systems under the GNU General Public License.

Version Differences

The version 2.49b Experimental download (Blender 2.49b, Python 2.6.4, Blender NIF Scripts 2.5.0, NifSkope 1.0.21.4886, PyFFI 2.0.5) is what I slapped together and made sure it installed correctly on WinXP and Win7. Let me know if this is "stable" enough to be considered the next "accepted" bundle.

The version 2.49a Experimental download (Blender 2.49a, Python 2.6.2, Blender NIF Scripts 2.4.10, NifSkope 1.0.20.4748, PyFFI 2.0.1) is what I slapped together and made sure it installed correctly on WinXP and Win7.

The version 2.48a Experimental download (Blender 2.48a, Python 2.5.4, Blender NIF Scripts 2.4.9, NifSkope 1.0.20.4748, PyFFI 2.0.1) is what I slapped together and made sure it installed correctly on WinXP and Win7.

The version 2.47 download (Blender 2.47, Python 2.5.2, Blender NIF Scripts 2.3.7, NifSkope 1.0.12, PyFFI 1.0.0) is the currently "accepted" version and contains all related files and versions known to work well together.

The version 2.46 download (Blender 2.46, Python 2.5.2, Blender NIF Scripts 2.3.3, NifSkope 1.0.10, PyFFI 0.10.9) is out-dated but functional. It does not enjoy the fixes in the newer version.

The version 2.45 download (Blender 2.45, Python 2.5.1, Blender NIF Scripts 2.1.11, NifSkope 1.0.6, PyFFI 0.4.7) is out-dated but many of the tutorials was written specifically with this version in mind.

The version 2.43 download (Blender 2.43, Python 2.4.4, Blender NIF Scripts 1.5.7, NifSkope 0.9.8) is made available since it was combination of file versions that have worked well together for Oblivion modding in the past. It is also required if you are using NifBlend version 0.4 or lower to produce animation (.kf) files.

Added an additional experimental package and updated the other. Please let me know if these experimental versions work for your imported and exported NIF files. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE.

version 2.49 works fine on win7, LHammonds.
Are you using these versions and have they been successful at getting working NIFs in Oblivion? What kind of NIFs have you done successfully (Architecture, weapons, armor/clothing, landscape, bodies, etc.)

Blender 2.49a, Python 2.6.2, Blender NIF Scripts 2.4.10, NifSkope 1.0.20.4748, PyFFI 2.0.1

Thanks,

LHammonds

Ow sorry :)..

Yes, I used those versions that were included in the 2.49a package..

I tested it with some static clutter and some armor. They went fine to my abilities. (I can only tweak models...)

Installment, importing, tweaking ,exporting and using them in game all goes as it should.

Even if no changes were done, simply importing and making it where it exports and testing the result in-game, I would consider that a success. Does not have to be anything fancy...just several areas of interest that "prove" these versions work well enough to be called "stable" for Oblivion or Fallout modding.

I should probably start a laundry list of things to test and mark them off with a quantity of how many times people have confirmed that their modification in that category worked with these versions.

I will create this "checklist" in my 2nd post. Feel free to suggest other areas that should be considered or have been problem areas in the past.

EDIT #1: If I can work-out a fairly solid checklist of items, maybe we can prep a single item in each category and store them in .blend format ready to be exported along with a .esp plugin that utilizes the test objects. Once these "base" set of objects are established, we can easily test the next batch of software versions released and be fairly confident as to what works and what won't...and thus be able to get feedback quickly to the developers to make necessary corrections. This will also make it easy for future modders to "test" new versions themselves in case the more experienced modders are retired or simply unavailable. ;)

EDIT #2: Feel free to pick apart the check list. I am no expert in what needs to be tested or if certain categories are completely redundant. I have only ever messed with weapons, armor and clutter.

Thanks,

LHammonds
