Awesome computer

EDIT by LHammonds: Sorry, that was a typo in the last post. Samsung 2343BWX. Post #1 has all the parts and links to their homepages but I went ahead and added the URLs to post #30 where you found that typo.

resolution ?

I don't have my monitors yet but I plan to have my desktop span across both...possibly using ATI's virtual desktop system as well.

Max resolution for each monitor is 2048 x 1152. The max resolution for the card is 2560 x 1600. But if you do a little research, you will find that Dual-DVI simply does not have the bandwidth capable of driving such a resolution to a large screen TV/Monitor. Any monitor that says it can run at the 1600 res is a pipe dream at the moment. Gateway created a TV that runs at that resolution but is done via trickery and upscaling (no longer being manufactured). There is not yet a standard (or hardware) that can push that kind of bandwidth.

Yep...very quiet. You wouldn't guess being that it has 7 fans but because they are all larger fans, that makes all the difference because they do not need to spin as fast as the smaller ones to push the same amount of air.

My wife said that my two monitors arrived a while ago so it looks like I'll get to check those out late tonight!!! But first, I need to go visit my father in the hospital.

One thing i had to do differently is put my mother board up on its side, and the 2 video cards on the top and the psu on the bottom of my case, other then that there is a lot more room then my previous case that's for sure..

 one thing i did notice is the way my case starts up, sounds freaken cool, almost like a jet engine but without it being loud  .

a friend told me that he has a friend who built a computer within oil (i dont know how to explain) and that works cuz the oil doesnt lead the juice so you can put electric things in it...

I dont know if its true what my friends saying but i believe him...

Oh that it doesn't conduct electricity and you can you use as a coolant, i heard about that. There is also a liquid witch i can't think of the name of it, but it does the same thing, its like water and it also doesn't conduct electricity, i thought of doing something like that, but its to risky.

hehehe...yes, you "can" liquid-proof your case, remove all fans and fill it with some kind of oil to keep the components cool...but the oil might eventually eat away at various components which will end poorly. Leaks could prove to be problematic. Using the wrong oil can also prove problematic and has been mentioned that food-based oils such as vegetable oil will break-down and turn rancid quickly when exposed to air and heat (e.g. stinky). Parts that have wires (like mice) where the PC is higher than the mouse might siphon oil down the wire (yuck). But the biggest problem is heat build up. It takes a long time for oil to reach a point that is dangerous to the components since it does a good job of removing hot spots and shares the heat equally in the system but the increase heat can shorten the lifespan of your components (deep frying them slowly) so you have to know how long the PC can run before needing to be turned off and also know how long it takes to cool down.

So yeah, can be a fun experiment and cool eye-catcher but simply not practical or long-term.

PS - Water can be used since it does not conduct electricity but it is the minerals in the water that cause the problem. You could used distilled water but the components themselves could shed enough minerals to cause a short and fry the computer which is why nobody recommends using distilled water due to the extremely high and likely risk of mineral build-up causing a short (even if hooked up to a re-distilling pump)
