qwertyuil390
Hey guys, I have a question. For a while, I've been playing FO3 on my PS3, and found It was not the same as a PC version (Modding, Mods, Geck, etc.) So I sold my copy and just bought my PC version. It will ship in a few days, and I need to be prepared. My main harddrive is running out of space. I have a bit more than a gigabyte left, and the computer is a bit old. HOWEVER, I have an external harddrive that I could use, which has well over 500 gb left, and thought of that for installing. But I have installed different things on it before, and it gets really complicated when it is an external drive. Now, I also have a vista computer, but it's a laptop. However it is almost new, and is in very good condition. But I hear people have problems with the game on vista. This option is not my favorite, but if much better then putting it on my external hardrive, I am willing to do it. Bottom line: Should I install it on an external harddrive, or on the vista laptop. Thanks so much in advance! -Me-

lilgamefreek
I would actually say go with Vista. While it has a bad reputation, when push comes to shove it isn't AWFUL. Installing it on the laptop will likely save you a bit of trouble. IF it does prove unstable, go ahead and change to the external drive. Transferring save games and mods over is a snap so I wouldn't worry at all about that.
qwertyuil390
Good to know. I feel that the external hard drive would be less stable, as the computer is running out of space and seems to get slower. Any more suggestions would be very helpful still :)

evilneko
External drives are a lot slower than your internal. There's little point as well, as I don't really think Fallout 3 is portable, but then again I also haven't tried. Clear out some space, I say. qwertyuil390
Hmm...I do have some un-used programs, I'll have to see how much space I can free. I agree with you on that they are slower then regular hard drives...and I don't believe it is portable either...
evilneko
FWIW, my friend runs Fallout 3 on a Vista64 box, windowed, with only the occasional lockup after installing 1.6.
new61
I think it's soo funny that people are having problems with Vista. I run Vista on my desktop, and I think it is the most stable OS I have ever used. I have had a few problems, but nothing I haven't been able to fix with a few searches in Google. Go ahead with the FO3 Vista install.
