Oblivion Problems after New Graphics Card

I bought oblivion a while back, but was unable to play it because of system requirements. i upgraded to nvidia 9400gt and was able to play oblivion at a reasonable setting, but recently for some strange reason, when i play oblivion, everything runs at a super slow speed from my characters to the menu's and the cursor. I've been on Can You Run it? and i'm above the minimum settings. Anybody had a similar problem?

Above the requirements maybe, but can you play other games ? Or maybe it's the RAM or processor (or others). Having a Pentium III and nvidia 9400gt is not enough. The system requirements isn't exactly as they say, maybe they were wrong. Maybe the minimum RAM is 256, but maybe you need 512 to at least run it.

No, I'm able to play other games on my pc like fallout 3 for example. It just confuses me why it would suddenly run like this after i had been able to play it perfectly for a while before this. (also, i have 2gb of ram so i doubt that that's the problem.)

Experimentally try renaming or deleting the oblivion.ini file (...\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini)

Oblivion will then redetect hardware. It will also, probably, not recognize your video card and set everything to medium. Just change the settings according to what you think your card will support (You can always change them later)
