Has a mod like this ever been made?

I would like a mod that places a new quest in the game, maybe in the pentagon.

This quest giver is looking to create a McGuffin, a super weapon might be a good choice.

To make this weapon you must collect pre-war artifacts as parts and turn them in. These unique artifacts are located somewhere in EVERY wasteland map marker in the game.

As you turn them in, you get modest xp and caps. He then reveals a map marker and tells you where to go to get the next piece.

Once you complete the quest, he gives you a copy of the weapon he created.

This would be great as it would encourage the player to visit every location in the game.

I agree. Id get bored open the GECK and add the item myself through the console to see if its even worth it. But you said it'd be a god weapon, so i wouldnt even download it. Not a fan of fedex missions or god weapons.

Maybe sprucing it up? Perhaps not EVERY SINGLE location, as that would be ridiculous.

"Cool now i need you to travel aproximately 120 miles north east where you'll fix an old car garage. Bring me the Flux capacitor!"

Id be like "wtf is a that?!? screw that! You go"

I don't think fetch quests are all that popular. You'd probably get flamed (in a very nice way on this site) for making a quest like that.

Yeah, maybe the unrefined idea is a bit boring. However, it sickens me that we have this huge world, and most of the landmarks don't have a quest associated with it. Oh yeah, go here and you'll find your 50th unused stealth boy on a desk. I mean, even some major DC landmarks don't have a quest for them. I realize they may want to "save" some landmarks for future DLC quests, but it's kind of a bummer.

If you've ever used GECK, you would know how difficult it already is to design a setting and to do all the navmeshes by hand. The constant fussing with exact coord values to get object placements just so.

The developers simply didn't have the time necessary to do all that and do story and get the VAs to do the thousands of more lines to go with the story. Did you know, for example, that your average 30-minute TV show has about 300 or 400 lines? Now compare that to the thousands that are already in this game. I really have to tip my hat and applaud all that work they did.

But, you know, if you want quests to go with everything on the map, feel free to design and develop them. Nobody's telling you that you can't (even if the way you're going about it initially is a little iffy there).
