Antihero87
Hello everyone, im buying GotY Morrowind for Xbox because i've been seriosly sick lately and bored as all get out... not to mention i really can't leave the bed. Ive played and beatin many games from FF7 to KotOR. Some reason I really never even looked into Morrowind until the Oblivion trailors really caught my eye. Anyways to get to the point, I need suggestions on things I need to watch out for, strive for, and any helpful hints as I play. I want a stealthy class with good stealth abilities and good bow skills. I know I don't sound too knowledgable about the game as you can see, but suggestions would be great guys. Thank you so much. ~Jeff
Switch
Well, don't expect anything as in-depth stealth-wise as you saw with Oblivion. Morrowind is much more basic than that. ^^ There's no stealthy headshots and such, or harnessing of shadows. But you can still sneak around and pick locks and such. As well as pick pockets. Anyways, there are a number of premade stealth classes... or you could try making your own. The sort of thing you'll want is Marksmanship for your bow, Sneak for moving around unheard, Security for picking locks, and your favoured attributes should be agility and intelligence (I think, but I'm a little rusty on all this). Illusion magic can be very useful to a thief too, as you can cast Invisibility and Chameleon with that. For tips about general gameplay just search through old topics in these forums. There's a wealth of knowledge! One thing to note about Illusion is, Chameleon lets you move around completely unseen and you can steal things with it, and it won't wear off until the spell duration ends, however you are at least partially visible, depending on the percentage. Invisibility, as the name suggests, makes you completely invisible. But taking any action, such as firing a bow, picking a lock, or looting an item, will instantly cancel the spell. Which isn't good when you're trying to steal something! Also, with bows, always take shots in first person and make sure crosshair is turned on, otherwise it's very hard to land a hit. Aim slightly above your opponents when firing from a large distance. If you aim right for them it can miss. It can also miss anyway, but this happens less as your Marksmanship improves. That's everything that springs to mind. Have fun!
Antihero87
Thanks Switch I appreciate it. Any other suggestions from others, even a suggestion in class would be great. Also does morrowind keep weapons and armor fairly basic? Or can you find rare or unique weapons throughout the game? Thanks again
Switch
You're welcome. ^^ There is a wide variety of armours and weapons. Some are available in shops, and some can only be found on high level creatures, or in dungeons. Daedric, for example, is the rarest, and you won't encounter any until the higher level dungeons. There are unique weapons and armour that you can find. http://www.uesp.net/ has a lot of info about unique stuff and such. Forgot to mention it in the last post. Also forgot to mention you'll need to take Light Armour as another of your skills. (Light stuff is best for sneaking. Heavier stuff can get in the way). Malchik
I agree with Switch that you should put together your own ideal stats but you may want to play the opening few quests etc to get a feel for the game before settling down to play it through. I recommend you get used to saving in different slots quite frequently. The game sometimes crashes and you don't want to find you've lost eight hours of effort. Also it is possible to kill someone by accident you may need later or mislay an important item. On xbox you don't have the luxury of fixing this by console command. There is complete list of unique weapons pinned in spoilers. Switch has pointed you at uesp; uhs is also a good site if you need hints although IMO you only really need them for the vampiric quests. Lots of suggestions on what to do at the start can be found by doing a forum search. Good luck.Hope you enjoy the game. Feel free to ask for any help you need. Antihero87
Thanks Malchik, I appreciate your information. Im sure ill have a ton more questions after i get started. Also (a question for anyone) do you think its possible to finish the game with a sneak/marksman class? I mean how often is lockpicking and stealing... actually useful or needed in this game? Malchik
Other members appear to be on vacation! MW allows you to maximise all skills so the difference only counts at the start of the game. Lockpicking is very useful but it is also easy to get an item enchanted to unlock at 100% Stealing is of value less often but a combination of high chameleon and telekinesis works as well. Picking pockets is useful to obtain unique weapons from non hostile npcs but you can also taunt them into attacking. The choice is yours. In the end any combination will take you through to the end. KzinistZerg
Pure theif and pure mage classes are very hard to play in Morrowind, so it ought to give you a challenge. If you have an open slot, alchemy is very handy, as you can make all sorts of potions.
Jackal56o
Personally, when I started out about a year ago (with the same character I have today) I had a Nord, maste or long blades, crossbows, lock picking and medium armor. Majoring in strength and endurance. Its best to be a master of combat first. Everything else can wait. ALSO..... have acrobatics and athletics as major or minor skills as they will help get your level up with ease.
