Osprey88
I never liked how big the vanilla meshes for the armor were or how a lot of them looked. I was always more a fan of the slightly unrealistic but somewhat stylish appearance of the character designs from japanese games and such. What I'm doing is redoing every single piece of armor in the game, both mesh and texture, to something that I like better. It may not suit a lot of people's tastes, but as it stands, I'm using other people's stuff indiscriminately based on what I can find that I like, so this mod's release depends on if I can get their permission or not. Most of the stuff is from AT2's shiki armor set since I liked the overall look of the stuff and the geometry is very well modeled. I've also used some of ghogiel's helmets, and plan to use some other people's things as well. Credit goes to, so far, alienslof, ghogiel, and a-type2. Like I said, however, everything depends on if I have their permission. So far, I have steel armor, legion armor, elven armor, savior's hide, chainmail, leather armor, and iron armor done. (Sorry for the missing pics, photobucket was being really weird when I uploaded the picture for the steel armor and I lost them - but for now, here's the steel armor) http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww73/osprey788/steel.jpg
AncientSpaceAeon
Don't replace !!! Just add them as a mod. Why you want to replace them ? Anyway, based on the pics, good work !!!
Osprey88
Don't replace !!! Just add them as a mod. Why you want to replace them ? Anyway, based on the pics, good work !!! If people as a majority want them as extras, I'd provide 2 separate files, one which would replace and the other which would add. I just really don't like how the vanilla game meshes look and hate looking at them when I play. This'll make every NPC who wears armor look different, so it would be much more ubiquitous in how it affects the game.
AncientSpaceAeon
My suggestion is just replace few or some of the NPCs, not ALL. I think regular enemies (bandits, marauders) should have vannila armor (even some wear the replacements), and the unique npcs wear the replacements. Remember many people wears leveled armor. Well, it wouldn't be modding the NPC's directly, it would just act in the same way that a body replacement mod like exnem's works - you just put it in the Data folder with the same exact name and directory as the vanilla mesh and it replaces all instances of the graphic entirely. I'm not sure if that's what you meant (since modding NPC's directly would conflict with mods, especially if I was modding the leveled lists). Rather than adding variety or anything, I'm trying to change the look of the equipment aspect of the game entirely. But yeah, if enough people want them just added, that's fine by me, though I dunno if I'd have the willpower to add that many things to the construction set. simonp92
they look good, but you should already give credit to the moddelers who made the original meshes.
rdamstrom
release it the way you want and let someone else worry about making a separate esp if they want it so bad. trying to make everyone happy never seems to work anyway so why bother. oh and don't forget to give credits like you wouldn't anyway. Osprey88
they look good, but you should already give credit to the moddelers who made the original meshes. So far I've only used stuff from ghogiel and AT2 and already mentioned them in the original post. I'll probably use stuff from more people, but I've worked with enough geometry in blender to know how hard it is and as such giving credit isn't something I wouldn't forget to do. Further than that though, I hope they're satisfied with what I'm doing to their meshes, as I've reshaped them quite a bit and did all of my own texturing.
