I wish I had $700 to spend on a video card right now. :3 Edited February 19, 2014 by Rennn
Ball11
What about the titan black edition or the GTX 780ti?
Rennn
What about the titan black edition or the GTX 780ti? The ROG MARS has only moderate lead over a stock Titan, so I imagine a Black Edition Titan would outperform it, (albeit for double the price). It'd outperform a 780 TI as well despite costing the same amount, since a 780 TI is just a bit faster than a Titan. The main drawback to the MARS, despite the fact that it offers the highest performance relative to the cost, is that being two cards in one (like a 690) it takes two slots and will generate a pretty massive amount of heat. obobski
A MARS that isn't thousands of dollars and limited production? And it will fit in a normal case? And doesn't have an external power brick? What is the world coming to. :teehee: For those who don't get what I'm referencing, this is how nutter-butters Asus dual-GPU boards have been in the past:http://images.numerama.com/img/s/h124831-360-360-asus-extreme-n7800-gt-dual2dhtv.jpg http://www.dvhardware.net/news/2012/asus_rog_mars_iii_dual_gtx_680_tpu.jpg  I will give it that it only costs $650 and is actually available for purchase, and brings more performance than Titan, 780, etc without running the price even higher. And that kind of sanity is certainly needed in the modern GPU landscape (high-end cards really don't need to be $1000+). But otherwise I don't see the appeal over buying a pair of GTX 760s - it costs $150 more and has less monitor connectivity options and more rigorous cooling demands. If it ran more like $500-$550 I think it'd be a much better overall "thing" methinks; maybe it'll drop with time. Honestly I'm surprised nVidia has not released a reference-design dual GPU board for the 700 series yet; I've heard rumors about a "GTX 790" but have not seen anything materialize. I'm also surprised Asus went with GTX 760s and made a reasonable product; I was actually half expecting them to put together a dual Titan in a 3-4 slot, 500W+ monstrosity...
Thor.
Will it out perform the Highest clocked gtx780 ti, the gigabyte windforce oc edition. ??? Edited February 27, 2014 by Thor.
Rennn
Will it out perform the Highest clocked gtx780 ti the gigabyte windforce oc edition. ??? I'm guessing probably not, depending on the game. It outperforms a stock Titan by up to 14% depending on the game. A 780 TI is a bit faster than a Titan, and a Gigabite 780 TI OC is faster still. According to in-game benchmarks, the MARS and 780 TI OC trade blows, with each of them coming out ahead in different games. If I remember correctly the MARS has just 2GB of effective VRAM though, due to being 2 cards. Edited February 26, 2014 by Rennn
