gpstr1
Much though this game disappoints me, I have to say that one thing that I find very impressive about it is that NPCs will actually fight with each other-- not as part of any storyline, but just because two or more hostile NPCs are close enough to each other. And it's that much more impressive that they'll even do it offscreen, and you'll only know something happened when you come around a corner and find a corpse in the middle of the road. There are at least a few preprogrammed fights-- there's a fort ruin close to IC (Nikel or one of those) that has two groups of bandits sneaking around in it, and if you get up high and shoot an arrow at one of the NPCs, they'll start fighting each other, then you can just go in and mop up when they're done. There's also a mine (Derelict mine maybe?) in which you walk in in the middle of a Goblin war. If you just let the invading group go past you, again you can just sit back and wait until they're done fighting and mop up. But I really love the fights that just happen randomly, and that's what inspired this post. I was just coming back from Anvil toward Skingrad and came around a corner and on a hillside in front of me, fireballs and lightning bolts were flying back and forth. When I got up there, it was an imp and a hedge wizard going at it. So of course I just hung around until one of them won (the hedge wizard, which is who I would've bet on) then I killed him and looted them both (you know, 'cuz I've only got 18 imp galls on me right at the moment....) A while back, I walked out of the Anvil east gate and there was an Imperial soldier and an Imperial forester fighting it out up and down the hills. I have no idea what that one was about. The guard won, so I only got to loot the forester for his cheap armor and bow and a few arrows. I think there were probably more arrows stuck in the guard than there were left on the forester's body. The last time I did the Ulrich quest in Cheydinhal, when Aldos Othran confronted the guard at his house and then the guard killed him, one of the other guards attacked the guard who killed him. Only managed to knock him unconscious though, of course. The one I thought was most interesting though-- just earlier today, I'm pretty sure I saw an Imp hunting deer. First I saw a fireball come flying out of a valley a ways in front of me, then when I got up closer, I saw an Imp just vanishing up the far side of the valley, hurling fireballs in front of him as he went. I couldn't see what he was chasing, but there was a dead deer right at the near edge of the valley, so I can only assume that the Imp had killed one of them and was chasing another, though I guess he might've been chasing something else, which something else had killed the deer. No way to know really, but intriguing either way......... I'm sure there are far more interesting stories than that out there, so let's hear some........ AncientSpaceAeon
The best way is to use frenzy (use cheats maybe ?) to start a war in the city. It's fun watching them doing that.
David Brasher
I broke into Bravil Castle to steal a quest item. Stealing is wicked enough, so I didn't want anyone to get hurt. I used lots of invisibility spells, but still got detected. I had about four guards chasing me and some lesser-nobleman of the court. I finally found the quest item, but a fight broke out between a guard and the nobleman. I think the nobleman had swung his dagger at me and hit the guard. As you might expect, the guard won the fight and killed the nobleman. I felt really bad. I hadn't want anyone to get hurt. After I used the quest item and no longer had it in my possession, I went back to Bravil and turned myself in. But you know how goofy the justice system in Cyrodiil is. The penalty for committing burglery, resisting arrest, and causing the death of a nobleman? Eighty Septims.
