DaemonGrin
Howdy Howdy! I have not yet stepped up to playing it yet but am adding it as we speak and dunno what, if any, of the optional patches I want to use since I haven't played the base mod yet. I want a balanced AWOP not knowing how much loot etc there actually is I thought I would ask on here for those that have played it. What is your preferred setup for AWOP (less loot? less NPC's? etc) Much appreciated!Geoff
Jigglybuff
Im posting just for the same reason. I am not looking to lower the amount of loot I get I guess, or the amount of NPCs. Just the types of loot NPCs have. I have just now finished the Goodsprings quest with Joe Cobb and Ringo, already am level 5, and have over 1600 caps. I like the mod, but its not very immersive. The freaking Powder gangers attacked with lazer and plasma weapons. Want to know how to fix that..
RoyBatterian
Before I start rambling here I'll say I have a highly personal customized setup of AWOP. With that said... I prefer the mod mostly vanilla with all the Loot, Weapons, Armor and NPC's. I do however also like the added challenge that Project Nevada brings, and the weapon mods of WMX. Interior Lighting Overhaul also makes the spaces much more immersive and foreboding but at this time that is kind of broken so you'd have to wait until Sarge releases the next version. Personally I have merged into AWOP the music triggers patch, all the fixes to text, names, items and what not from Drithius' Overhaul and Balance patch. A note about that is I have not merged any of the NPC/Item/Weapon/Armor/Skill Book changes/removals as I prefer AWOP how it was originally intended game play wise. AWOP can be extremely difficult in some areas especially with PN settings. You may prefer the rebalance on a first go round. There's also a recent patch for one of the quests that removes confusing markers as you progress through the quest. I have also merged the Sortomatic version of the player home into AWOP. Doing that kind of thing is not for beginners however... and there is no way I could share it with anyone. If you learn a bit you can do it yourself without too much trouble, or you can just change the patches to reflect the changes you want. That's the beauty of modding, you can create a personalized experience that suits your game play style. Now that that's out of the way... AWOP brings a lot of extra content to the New Vegas world, I wouldn't play without it anymore honestly and I wish the author had stayed around and done more with the mod and added areas to the other DLC's besides Dead Money. While the lack of good voice acting detracts a bit from the immersion, it in no way keeps this mod from being in the excellent category. It's obvious an enormous amount of time and effort went into it, I can't say enough positive things about it. I urge you to play it and form your own opinion, and you may not find everything on your first play through either, I sure didn't.
