Duthos1
I am gonna itemize the situation, I think it easier. - An oblivion gate northeast of anvil has spawned that I cannot enter.- Main quest is completed.- Mods affecting gates; Continuing Oblivion Gates, Fewer Random Oblivion gates (AlmostNoRandomOBgates.esp), and Oblivion Gate Map Marker Remover- There is no icon to select the gate when I cursor over it, clicking does nothing.- Its animation is frozen, and it does not change weather.- It places a map marker when I get close.- It spawns appropriate mobs.- If I remove Continuing Oblivion Gates the gate is closed, and it still places a map marker. One that is never removed. - Removing any/all other mods relating to gates, or other mods that affect scripts that I have tested has no effect on the state of this gate.- If I select it in the console it has a refID, but disabling it has no effect.- I have loaded games as far back as four hours where I was nowhere near the gate, it is there in those games as well.- It is the only gate I have encountered since I completed the main quest. I wanted them rare, but still occuring.- I have tried all combinations of load order for the gate mods, with and without merging. No difference.- I have travelled far from the gate, waited three days, and gone back. So. If I can make it work properly, which will likely fix the rest, great. If I can get rid of it, ok. If I can remove it and the map marker, good. Ideally, I would like to understand what happened. Thanks for any and all feedback. Edit - Dammit, I am a knucklehead. This was supposed to be posted in Mod Troubleshooting. If anyone would care to move this topic...?
malonn
Sounds like a problem with Continuing Oblivion Gates. The map markers are supposed to be there if the gates are closed. That's normal.
David Brasher
In the past, I have had trouble with Oblivion gates myself, and I don't have any of the mods you list. I am not sure if my problems were all triggered by a mod I had in which you briefly visit Oblivion, or if some of the problems were with the basic un-modded game. I have heard of glitches with Oblivion gates occurring in the un-modded game. Things that happened to me: (1) Animated Oblivion gate with monsters which could not be entered. Was able to close with console commands. (2) Grabbed sigil stone, watched light show, then did not get transported back to Tamriel and did not close Oblivion gate. Fled from angry daedra, used console command to return to Tamriel, closed Oblivion gate with console command. (3) Fought my way to top of sigil keep to grab the stone. There was no stone! Oblivion gate existed with no sigil stone. Used console command to return to Tamriel, and console command to close gate. (4) Room with sigil stone full of the thickest white fog you can imagine. (Other people have also reported this Sigil Whiteout Weather.) Felt my way along the walls, got startled half to death whenever I encountered a monster. It almost seems like they were having trouble finding me also. Grabbed stone and closed gate normally.
Duthos1
Yeah, me too Dave. I have encountered 2 (except console commandds would not close it) and 4. Maloon, I have a mod to remove the map markers. All three mods affect scripts, but I will be damned if I can make any sense of the scripts. I think I am gonna have to simply combine all three mods into one, somehow. Should be doable, and I will wager if I can put all three together there will be alot of people who want it. Duthos1
Solved. The problem was the continueing oblivion gates. I downloaded reopen oblivion gates and manually combined the scripts for random gate behavior from that and my map marker remover and they all work perfectly.
