  1. Basicly parts of the world act as though light is not cast on them. I had this same problem with oblivion, although much less noticable. Here is an example. Right; http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/5107/screenshot3vw.png Wrong; http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/8637/screenshot2vd.png All I need to do is change my view angle and it goes away. This occurs all the bleeding time, inside/outside, with shadows enabled or not, all lighting settings, seems worst in darker areas and areas with dust. Aside from that, there is no pattern I can find. Totally immersion breaking though. Cookies for answers.
  2. Hiya. Love this game, but got frustrated with the terrible performance I had on vista, set up a dual boot for XP, it crashed, and for some reason I could never re install XP onto the sata drive again. Went and got Windows 7, and I have to say that I am getting a huge performance boost over vista (likely since my 64 bit OS is now using all my ram) and thought I would finally be able to actually get into the game without being driven insane with the game running like crap. Anyway, here is the story. As Windows 7 registry didn't have Oblivion I simply reinstalled into the same directory I was already installed to. I assumed it overwrote all the default files so I dropped SI, the patch and the fanpatch on top of it. It occured to me that I could have simply installed oblivion elswhere then changed the registry... about three seconds after I clicked install. Fired up wyrebash and everything seems to work pretty near perfectly. Pretty near. I had doubles of all the races in the char select screen, so I figured I would toss the beautiful people mod I grab a new race kit, so I also tossed elaborate eyes. Somehow removing all race modifying mods gave me googlyeyes. This is one small problem, but I expect to have it fixed when I settle on a new race package (that beautiful elves looks good). Another thing is I get rain sound effects when the sky is coudy but no rain. I have used several different weather mods over the time I played this game, but I have removed them all fo rthis run, and I still get the same behavior. The real oddity is my char seems to be running WAY too fast and jumping way too far for a lvl 1. Speed and acrobatics are proper for the lvl, and if I am already running as fast as my toon used to at max speed it will be unplayable when I get those stats with the new character. On the one hand I would like to nuke my entire oblivion folder and start clean, but there are two major reasons I don't want to do that. One is FCOM, it takes a long ass time to download all the parts and put it together. The other is all the tweaks I have made to the UI. I don't remember exaclty how I did it, being almost a year ago I think, but I got darnifued ui blue in game, a seperate style completely for loading screens, and different text for the quotes as well. I suppose I will eventually have to redo Oblivion now that I have a better idea how that data files work (I think remnants of a thousand dead mods may be found in those subfolders... a dark scary place indeed) Anyway... here is my mod list, if anything here might explain why my characters movements are so super fast please lemme know.   3. Solved. The problem was the continueing oblivion gates. I downloaded reopen oblivion gates and manually combined the scripts for random gate behavior from that and my map marker remover and they all work perfectly.
  4. Good tips, all of them. In my case, I am already following said advice. I have an XP OS solely for oblivion, no internet connections or backround applications, my load order seems to be fine as I only encounter said glitch with my main char and only when I save in an area added by a mod. My new char has gone through several of the areas my main encountered the crashes in without trouble, so I am almost certain my problem lies with the particular character. Is there a superior utility to update saves for new masters? I have tried all save fixes included with wyrebash, and nothing has solved it yet.
  5. It now seems less likely that my load order is the problem. I started a new character and took her to several of the places that crashed on save with my main, and had zero problems. Even finished a few new quests and areas. Which begs the question, is there a utiity for updating saves to a new mod list? OOO has one but I somehow think that will be insufficient to fix my main char save.

  7. I am gonna bump this, as I am having the same issue. So far I only notice this problem when saving in a new area, but that may just be because I am playing in new areas.
  8. Hiya. Yer standard copy pasta may not help me specificly, but it warms me heart to know that ye still try to help people. I have noticed that I seem to have this problem when saving in any new areas. So aside from not using mods that add areas to the game, I was hoping for a specific solution to this error.
  9. I just re installed oblivion and all the mods I have fresh. I used boss to sort my load order, though I since moved lost spires down the list to load after all other quest mods. Problem is it crashes pretty much whenever I save it inside the first spire. I do not use autosave, but stream saves and manual saves both seem to crash it. It means type {{BASH:NpcFaces,NoMerge}} into the description, and using wyrebash rebuild the bashed patch and select to import npc faces from that file, and do not activate the esp (the bashed patch will have the graphics in it). If you do not know what wyrebash is, go to http://wrye.ufrealms.net/Wrye%20Bash.html. It wil require a signifigant amount of research and experimenting to use the program properly, but it the strongest utility for using multiple incompatable mods together without conflict.
  12. Yeah, me too Dave. I have encountered 2 (except console commandds would not close it) and 4. Maloon, I have a mod to remove the map markers. All three mods affect scripts, but I will be damned if I can make any sense of the scripts. I think I am gonna have to simply combine all three mods into one, somehow. Should be doable, and I will wager if I can put all three together there will be alot of people who want it.

I am gonna itemize the situation, I think it easier. - An oblivion gate northeast of anvil has spawned that I cannot enter. - Main quest is completed. - Mods affecting gates; Continuing Oblivion Gates, Fewer Random Oblivion gates (AlmostNoRandomOBgates.esp), and Oblivion Gate Map Marker Remover - There is no icon to select the gate when I cursor over it, clicking does nothing. - Its animation is frozen, and it does not change weather. - It places a map marker when I get close. - It spawns appropriate mobs. - If I remove Continuing Oblivion Gates the gate is closed, and it still places a map marker. One that is never removed. - Removing any/all other mods relating to gates, or other mods that affect scripts that I have tested has no effect on the state of this gate. - If I select it in the console it has a refID, but disabling it has no effect. - I have loaded games as far back as four hours where I was nowhere near the gate, it is there in those games as well. - It is the only gate I have encountered since I completed the main quest. I wanted them rare, but still occuring. - I have tried all combinations of load order for the gate mods, with and without merging. No difference. - I have travelled far from the gate, waited three days, and gone back. So. If I can make it work properly, which will likely fix the rest, great. If I can get rid of it, ok. If I can remove it and the map marker, good. Ideally, I would like to understand what happened. Thanks for any and all feedback. Edit - Dammit, I am a knucklehead.   14. Thanks dev, tried that with no luck. Pawn, the journal I refer to is his fathers with the truth of his origins. Sigh.... any other ideas guys? Edit - OK. So if I hand over the journal, talk to the broad, then I can challenge him. But I had wanted to fight him.... guess I will just have to do it the sissy way now. I got the journal a looooong time ago. Consoling that quest done does not help. Gonna keep a save here though, incase someone knows how to keep the journal AND fight the grey prince.
