Essential and Best Fallout 3 Mods

Im gonna get fallout 3 soon and after playing through the normal storyline i am planning on playing a bunch of mods. I looked on Mod DB but the only ones i see that are worth getting are Cube Experimental, and Reborn. What are other good mods?

 

P.S. these dont have to be full story mods, but can also be cool weapons, or something that changes the mechanics like this.

The approach I took with this, Oblivion and Morrowind was to play through the vanilla game first and then think about mods, I looked for mods that altered gameplay aspects I didn't much like as well as those that improved the aesthetics. There is a top 50 that's worth looking at but I think it's better to choose mods based on what you want to change/improve than it is choosing one because it's popular.

 

The two you will need are the Fallout mod manager and ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated, the first one because the games default launcher is broken and useless, the second one to avoid texture oddities.

i am gonna play the game vanilla first time through, but i want to get a list of mods and extra sutff ready, like the cube mod is gonna add gameplay hours, but not until i finish the vanilla.

 

Will the fallout 3 mod manager tell the game which mods to be on and which to be off? and what exactly does the other one do?

FOMM has a built-in invalidator, so you don't need both.

 

Invalidation lets you use custom meshes, textures, and the like. Otherwise the game just uses the defaults.

The two main mods I like to use are:

FOOK - Fallout Overhaul Kit

Marts Mutant Mod

 

Other mods I use are just extra guns and armors which can easily be found by using the search function.
