I agree that it would be nice and all, but it would probably take up too much memory and either make the game lag a lot, or the game would become way too big and take up more than one dvd, which is already ridiculously full of dialoug, which would not be a good idea on the xbox 360. :(

A nice thought though, when it comes down to the concept of realism.

I really do like the idea, and would like too see it in the Elder Scrolls V, if there is ever such a thing.

actualy it is posible to dent walls break beds apart and behead people fairly easaly in game code tearms with the use of displacement/bumpmaps object replacement and debrie substitution and beheading could also be done but no one has done it well since mortal kombat 1 :)

Hmmmmmm...

I didn't realize it, though it isn't to my surprise that I didn't know this, for I am no programmer and do not know much about these things, though I doubt they will be in Oblivion. Thanks for possibly correcting my mistake, Wookie, and thanks for informing me of the possibility of this feature that could be done easily enough.

They have stated that there won't be any damagable environments in Oblivion, I'm pretty sure.

But you never know, they might add it for TES V if there's sufficient interest in it. :P

Agreed. The save files would be HUGE, bigger than they already are in keeping track of all 1000+ NPCs in the game, along with the stats of the random forest, as to keep it the same when you go back in, you get the idea. There has to be SOME discrepancies, lest Oblivion will never come out because of constant fine tuning. Damage is a good idea, but it would, as said by myself and several others, be too much of a hassle.

Hope this is an accurate statement.

Yes... But isn't there a way of like "creating" the part that breaks when you hit a wall. If we have a wall that is just a 3d-Shell, no inside bricks that can fly around and such. But lets say that this shell has "hot-spots" everywhee, or something according to the script used to determine where an arrow hits. And then, when the supposed hammer hitts a sertain spot in the wall, then that wall (and only that wall, no other wall in the game) changes in to a 3d object with lots of small parts that can fly around. Wouldn't that be possible?
