Ideas Needed

Hi, I'm currently working on a mod and I could use some ideas involving the interiors.

Here's what I could use some ideas for.

There are 6 Interiors...

1st. Terrible crappy looking place.

2nd. It's an alright place.

3rd. Not that bad.

4th. This is pretty cool.

5th. Sweet.

6th. HOLY SH*T

What I'm basically asking is... what should be in each interior? :P

Er... if you want ideas, then you'll need to give more details. What architecture type is being used? Metro? Industrial? Utility? Vault? If you're making caves, then I'm definitely the best person to ask. I'm, like, the cave master or something. But really, you need to give more details. I have tons of ideas squirming around in my head, but without enough information, I can't help.

The questions basically speaks for itself.

When you picture crap. What theme do you picture? I picture a shack. When I picture something that's awesome, I'd assume a vault interior or something like that. This is also not referring to caves. Hope to hear you ideas if you still have some.

I don't really focus on things I can't change. Here are some hints that might help you:

1. Putting movable wooden planks and bent tin cans directly in the middle of rooms and hallways.

2. A little blood splatter or body parts. Maybe a bear trap or two.

3. Pick up the ambient light level a bit. Push the junk into the corners.

4. Stick in some fake windows, some furniture, some lighting.

5. Clean the floor up. Put posters on the walls. Stack books properly in the shelves.

6. Duplicate something that looks cool and just tweak the light levels. Maybe move the furniture around a little.

Thanks for that. But what I'm really looking for is actual unique ideas using vanilla objects. (Not a talking hand which would require new meshes, textures, and anims. -.-)

I'm wanting to create new interiors.

Well in that case:

1st. Terrible crappy looking place. = Research the Edward Gein house, add dead bodies on hooks (raider house meshes)

2nd. It's an alright place. = Similar to houses in Big Town, moderate amounts of litter on the floot

3rd. Not that bad. = Similar to Silver's house;. old, dirty but looks functional

4th. This is pretty cool. = Similar to Megaton house, has Robot Butler

5th. Sweet. = Similar to Tenpenny Suite, add security traps (scripting required)

6th. HOLY SH*T = Tranquility Lane house with pristine furniture (minus the black and white ImageSpace)

Unique ideas for your interiors, eh? Well, I've got a few I can spare (I don't want to give all of my ideas away). Other than caves, the traps I make are very, very mean.

Make a place in your interior where there are stairs going down. After those downward stairs, put some more downard stairs. At the top, make a chain reaction trap using a swinging object (like the swinging brahmin corpses or girders) that knocks over some Nuka Cola bottles or tin cans, so it sounds like grenades are falling. Now here's the fun part. Try to make it so that the cans/bottles land on a pressure plate that drops some grenades into a bear trap near the player. The player, distracted by the tin cans, will not expect this. Bam. Heavy damage.

Another idea would be to make a hallway with a hidden tripwire that activates a swinging girder (those things are great for all kinds of stuff!) that hits a tripwire that causes a shotgun to go off. Make it so that the shotgun (make sure that's hidden too) activates another tripwire, firing another shotgun, and so on. The player will enjoy this odd (and so far non damaging) trap. The catch? Have the last shotgun activate a tripwire that a) sets off a chain of mines on the ground or b) drops tons of grenades on the player.

And for a simple one: make a trapped teminal and name it something inconspicuous, like "Protectron Access Terminal".

And another: Make it so that when the player opens a door at the bottom of some stairs, they activate a tripwire and send some grenades down the stairs. Make sure that another tripwire out of the swinging range of the door is in place, so when the player tries to go forward, they trip that, so that they have to do some quick thinking.

Ooh, or, have a locked door that apears to have loot stashed behind it, but actually put loads of mines! Make sure the door is not of the swinging variety. The player opens the door, mines fall down, player dies.

For another, you could make it so that when the player activates a pitching machine, a raider will come in (to investigate, this is the main use of pitching machines), the raider will activate a pressure plate/tripwire, and that causes a shotgun to fire and ignite the area. Make sure you place the explosive gas trap.

Another would be to make a hallway full of gas, where at one point there is a hole in the floor leading down a long drop to the player's doom. The main part of this is to make a well hidden grenade trap that falls into a bear trap when the player activates a pressure plate when they jump to the other side of the hole. The gas ingites, hopefully knocking the player down the hole.

And one final one would be to make a tunnel full of water - and gas. Make one point where there are laser tripwires (as found in Raven Rock), and place tons of them vertically and horizontally in this tunnel, so it looks like a laser field from a classic heist movie. If they player fails to avoid these, shotguns on dry land connected to the flooded tunnel with gas will go off, knocking the player down. and possibly drowning them. I'm not sure about this one. It may or may not work.

Also, there is a trap in the GECK called the 'Motion Senser" - I am not sure how it works, but if someone could find out, I would greatly sppreciate it. And there you have it. A list of very dastardly traps, brought to you by me.

Snip

This is a player house not The Collector. xD Nice trap ideas though. Infact... I might use some of those ideas for personal use.

Calighan thanks for those ideas. I was thinking techy/vault interiors for the good one and a simple save for the best one.
