New and having trouble

so i finally got skyrim for pc after playing for a bit on console, i now want to mod.

 

after downloading and following several different youtube videos, im completely lost.

 

when i download the "skse" from silver it auto makes an icon and places the proper files where they are shown to needed to be place at on many of the videos.

 

i then went and downloaded mod manager and boss.

 

i went and downloaded the "bug fixes" skyrim patches

 

then i downloaded a few of the most recommended "mods" from this website.

i have activated all the mods in manager

 

when i go to play its starts and lets me know that there are new menu's but the game will not let me move at all, i checked all the controls and they are where they are suppose to be.

 

i checked boss and they say i have a "dirty edit" and to clean it up. im lost on how to do that.... im not the smartest when it comes to getting confused and can follow "simple" directions if they are pointed out correctly.

Well, to start with, the unofficial patches are in the wrong place. You should read the mod descriptions and readmes, not rely solely on BOSS.

well i did read them, so how do i move them ?

Use the big green arrows on the mod manager, or click on the names and drag them around. Also, how did you manage to install Steam on your Documents folder? That's quite a trick!

i have my steam on my 2nd hhd and it moved it there.

 

on mod manager, do i need to move it on the "plug in' side or the "mod" side?

 

and where should they be sitting?

EDIT: Added more stuff to the bottom in case you missed it.

 

Firstly, in the latest unofficial patches something with boss has gone wrong. They used to sort properly but now dont.

To fix go to where you installed BOSS and run the BOSS GUI application.... from there click 'edit user rules'.

 

On the right you will see your mods, you need to create 'user rules' for the unofficial patches to load after their masters, its fairly straightforward.

For example, drag the unofficial skyrim patch esp to the left, and drop it in the top box - click 'sort item' - click the little drop down box and select 'after', and then drag Update.esm to the right box, and finally click 'create new rule':-

This will result in:-

 

Sort 'Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp' after 'Update.esm'

 

Do this for all the unofficial patches.

 

Load order will be:-

 

Skyrim.esm Active

Update.esm Active

Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp Active

Dawnguard.esm Active

Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.esp Active

HearthFires.esm Active

Unofficial Hearthfire Patch.esp Active

Dragonborn.esm Active

Unofficial Dragonborn Patch.esp Active

 

 

 

As for the cleaning that BOSS is warning you about, dont worry about it. If you want you can clean the official esp's, this is explained well

(In fact, I recommend that you just go to gohpers channel and check out his help videos - great for someone thats just starting to mod, theres a bit to learn these days - but its FAR easier than it used to be).

Really dont worry about it where other mods are concerned, often they are intentional. Others may argue that with me but I dont clean other mods (and I dont use badly made ones :D ).

PS: That directory structure will probably cause problems, but I don't know - you said the game loads?

Also, you said you 'cant move'? Do you have an Xbox controller plugged in?

yes it loads and tells me im running skse when i check my skyrim verision

What error does it give? The screenshot looks fine.

 

EDIT: Second pic didnt load till just now. Sure your doing it right? You click 'Create new rule' after putting everything in the boxes.
