Meed to find what mod causes this gibberish in Temple District

What usually is written on that door. I assume it is caused by some companion mod. Most of the gibberish instances have been. (CM July for example screws up the Mysterious Door/Shivering Isle one). Cm Torys and Iluna screw up Umbaco Manor.

 

So which causes this, if anybody can help?

 

 

 

Much obliged. I will then try to clean up the esp with TES CS and see for a translation if i can. I'll do the same for the other ones that cause strange script as i find them out. If there is any interest i could also upload them to the appropriate add on. After thorough testing and permission of the original creator of course :)

That type of problem is usually caused by installing the wrong language version of a mod. Or as you have found by someone modding in another language, then accidentally leaving in a reference in the original language when they convert it. These can be hard to find, and are often in obscure places where they will not be noticed until you are playing that location.

 

Tes4geko has a function for cleaning 'dirty' references. I'm not sure if those type bugs qualify, but it may be worth trying. If you find the mod that caused this, try running the Tes4geko on it to see if it will fix it. If it works, it will find and fix all of that type bug in the mod. It will only clean one mod at a time.

 

Dirty references are any thing in the game that was 'touched' when you were modding that you did not actually change. If the modder clicked on that door at any time while in the CS, then saved, it will keep the 'new' reference in the saved version of the mod. By cleaning these dirty references, you replace it with the original reference from the game.

If it is not 'dirty entry', like the cell where said companion is, cleaning mod won't solve the problem. Instead, use TES4Edit to compare plugins if the problem is not dirty entry.(I once had such problem with some cheat item mod, and solved it by comparing and editing the plugin)

Thank you for the replies. I just hoped anybody had run into this and could point me to what mod would be the one to rewrite that. That would help my search a lot (there are only about 200 mods to go through ;)

 

If anybody could tell me what was supposed to be written there, that could help with the search too.

Hello, just a little update (and sorry for the spelling in the header, must have been in a hurry ;)

 

Anyway, i can not get Tes4Geko to work sadly, but Tes4Edit is a great tool. I have been busy cleaning my mods and already had success fixing some other major problems (caused by Kendogirl).

 

Now i THINK i found the Map Marker problem (in a mod called Sexydancer). There were references to several places and the names were in japanese. That of course would look like gibberish when Oblivion can not display japanese correctly. Now i think it's that because it mentioned the Temple District (also cheydenhal and the arboretorum, the last of which i guess gets overridden again in a later mod). Is it safe to simply copy the original name references from the Oblivion main to the mod file using Tes4Edit?

 

What i mean is simply change the japanese name to the original english name (not changing anything else, just the spelling). Doing that would make the references identical again (and i assume on another cleaning they would be removed completely). Am i correct in this?

 

If so, i am getting some gibberish in dialog as well. Could that be fixed the same way?
